Publisher's summary

The "Kingdom on the Roof of the World" with its magical mountain peaks that has preserved its culture and remarkable ancient architecture to this day. A fascinating documentary about Nepal, the land of snow-capped mountains, home to the gods. Pokhara, Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur, Pashupatinath, Bodnath, Changu Narayan, Sankhu, Kirtipur, Chobhar, Panauti, Banepa, Dhulikhel In the shadow of the mighty main ridge of the Himalayas lies Pokhara. Seven freshwater lakes, known as Pokharis, gave the once important trading city its name. The natural beauty of the Royal Chitwan National Park lines the way to Kathmandu, the lively metropolis. Thanks to its three hundred monasteries and temples, Patan still retains its charisma as the former capital of one of the three kingdoms. Bhaktapur is the third of the ancient royal cities of the Kathmandu valley. Behind the golden gate of Sundhoka lies the ancient royal palace complex.

After Swayambhunath, a Buddhist monastery with the oldest stupa in the country from the 5th century, you will reach Changu Narayan, the oldest sanctuary in the Kathmandu valley and a world heritage site. The ancient caravan route passes through Sankhu, a place where you can imagine Nepal as it was 100 years ago, to the end point of the journey at Dhulikhel.

Very, Very Old Audio….

I think this audio book was re-recorded over a pair of 1930’s speakers in an old library, somewhere in a lost jungle in Nepal. There’s some good information, but for entertainment only. The info isn’t deep enough to give the listeners any idea about a place, or a location.

“There is Nepal. You see some temples. Some people are Buddhists, some are Hindus. You see some animals. Oh, the sky is high. Some rocks are bigger than others… The end.”
