Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Nobody remembers how the Causality War started. Really, there's no-one to remember and nothing for them to remember if there were; that's sort of the point. We were time warriors and we broke time.

I was the one who ended it. Ended the fighting, tidied up the damage as much as I could.

Then I came here, to the end of it all, and gave myself a mission: to never let it happen again.

If Calvin and Hobbes had a time machine...

I imagine it would end up something like this. Very inventive, supremely funny, and incredibly written. Well worth the time.

Unique, funny and engaging!

Wonderful short story of a time-warrior at the end of all things. Dripping with sardonic narration by the author, this is a quick but entirely enjoyable tale that I didn't want to stop once started. Perfect for a rainy afternoon or a quiet evening.

another brilliant work from Tchaikovsky

another brilliant work from Tchaikovsky that deals with the paradoxes of time, travel in a thoughtful and entertaining way. A novel that studies the consequences of our actions and the morality of human struggle with a decent dash of humor to make the entire experience thoroughly enjoyable. highly recommend

A fun and quick read

I love most of Tchaikovsky's other work and this was no exception. It's a short listen but original and fun.

I’d read it again but maybe I already have

The most versatile imagination ever. Time travel as never been written before, unless it has and someone has gone back and erased it of course and we have just gotten to read it again in this version of the universe but we don’t know that we have read it before again and maybe again but from a different author 😂🤣

The Master

Adrian remains one the few master story tellers of any type of fiction. This story was both funy and poignient..may sound silly but it haunts me.

Fun, Silly, Piercing, and Creative

Tightly crafted to entertain and play with some fun corners of the time travel trope. Imparts a sense of loss and sadness without taking itself too seriously.
I wish it were longer, because few authors engage with speculative ideas and wit like Adrian Tchaikovsky, but he was right to keep it short.

He does a surprisingly good job of narrating his own stories. The only other author I've enjoyed as a narrator this much was Ursula K. Le Guin, and probably for a similar reason. He hits all of his own notes well.
