About this listen

Haunted by the responsibility of caring for her troubled family, Maya Jacobs gave the only answer she could when Cameron asked her to marry him. Years later, entrenched in a soulless professional routine, she distracts herself from the lingering regret of her decision with a "work hard, play hard" lifestyle that guarantees no man will ever find his way into her heart again.

Cameron Bridge has spent the past five years married to the military, trying to escape the painful memory of losing Maya. After fighting his own war in the desert, he starts a new life in New York City, with his siblings Olivia and Darren by his side.

When fate brings Maya back to him in the heart of a city filled with its own hopes and shadows, can Cameron find the girl he once loved in the woman she’s become?

I read & listened to this one

In the first few minutes, I realized I knew this story. I'd already read the book!

I enjoy this author and have heard the male narrator on other books. I would say the story & performances were solid. I also enjoy books told from multiple POVs.

The narrators' pacing (fast when anxious/ excited/ frustrated, for example) really lent a realness to story moments. The steamy scenes are VERY well written/ performed.

Personally, I found the FMC unlikable, even though I understood her flaws. But you never like every character all the time and that's beauty in books!

In Love With this Story Line...

I've read this book previously before the audio book was released and I fell head over heals for all the characters. The emotion Meredith draws from her readers in this book is amazing. I could go on for days... This book will chew you up, spit you out and leave you begging for more.

I loved having both Maya and Cams part read by Jennifer and David as far as having a man and a woman sharing the roles since this is told from both parts of view. I thought Jennifer did a great job on the voice of Maya. I think she really captured her attitude, vulnerability and stubborness. But David was a little off for Cam...something didn't quiet fit; he made Cam sound a little surfer boy at some points. I did find that he did a great job for Darren. Overall I loved it. Both Jennifer and David did a great job of bringing this story to life.

I was given an audio code in exchange for my honest review of this book.

my first audiable.... and I loved it

The book is amazing as always, thank you Mrs.wild for giving me another series to explore. Being my first audiable... I had a hard time letting go and just listening... but soon I found myself cleaning and driving and listening I love it... I originally got the book while I was in Jamaica hoping it would be nice to listen and lay on the Beach... but I had a hard time downloading it... once home and over the fact I didn't have to sit and read... although I love to do it... I was immersed in the book..... I even cought myself yelling at the charters at times.... definitely a great listen!!!

Heartbreaking romance

Cam and Maya are make for each other. Even though they were separated for a few years their hearts knew they need to be together.

This story is well written and easy to get lost in. Even though they were apart for so long and living separate lives they both were so natural when they found each other. The audio version of this book was easy to follow and the narrators made the story come to life.

You can't go wrong when reading any of Meredith Wild ' s books. I can't wait for the next installment of the series.

Even stubborn people deserve second chances!

While I initially had mixed feelings toward Maya, I fully engaged with her character and found myself rooting for her HEA. Cameron is just as stubborn as she is, if not more so, but it's obvious from the start how perfect they are for one another.

Their story is a testament that everything happens for a reason, and while love may not be lost forever, it can return at the right moment in your life. I enjoyed the many twists and turns in the plot that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I also highly recommend the audio version, as it allows the reader to fully immerse yourself into the story. The narration was great, and I'll definitely be listening to the rest of the series on Audible asap!

William Munt's voice....

The male narrator's voice ruined a great deal of the book for me. I sure hope he's not narrating the next one

Fantastic

What a fantastic love story! Showing that love and romance are not always bright and cheery. Love has to be worked at. I think the narrators did and excellent job reading and speaking with the raw emotion the author was trying to evoke. Loved the whole production!

Frustrating

It's a good thing I was listening to the audio version even though I originally bought the print version . I found Maya very frustrating she didn't deserve Cameron. Throughout the whole book, from the beginning I didn't see the big deal to explain why she couldn't marry him and then even when they got back together it's the same story. Not only that, but I have very low tolerance for people who tend to get drunk, it was such a turn-off . Find a more productive way to deal with stress.
Cameron was a very likeable character and hats off to him he has lots of patience to put up with her. Let's just say for most of the book I just didn't like it and if I was reading it I wouldn't have finished it or it probably would have taken me weeks to finish.
The Narrators did a fantastic job particular the male narrator. The scene where after meeting Cameron's parents where he was there pouring out his heart to Maya hoping that she would agree to marry him, there was such a genuine emotion in the narrator's voice that you could feel it you could hear it coming out and that sounds like very good acting to me.
