About this listen

Keeping things professional with my employees has never been an issue. Until she waltzed onto my property.

Billie is talented. She's mouthy. And she's so damn tempting. I can't stop thinking about all the ways I could take her down a peg. I can't stop thinking about her, period.

We clash from the moment we meet. And in a small town, on an even smaller farm, it's hard to keep your distance. It's even harder to keep that friction from turning to fire.

But keeping my distance? That might be the biggest struggle of all. Because Billie is the whole package, whip-smart with a body I fantasize about when I'm alone, and quite possibly the only woman who can save this business—and me.

She drives me crazy. In every sense of the word. Every smart-mouthed little comment—every game we play—I end up wanting more. Wanting her closer. With me. Under me.

I try not to let her get to me, but the more time we spend together the more I crave her. Her lips. Her trust. Her heart. I want it all. But at what cost? Because suddenly I don't just want to win races, I want to win the girl.

Contains mature themes.

Another good one from Elsie Silver

It was a good book with a good story line, but it left you feeling like it didn’t go it’s full potential. If you like Elsie Silver’s books you’ll like this one, but not my favorite.

Billy was good. Vaughn was atrocious.

I love CJ Bloom as a narrator. With that said, listening to Billy was entertaining. She was a spitfire and the narrator did amazing.

As for the MMC… I don’t know if I disliked Vaughn strictly because of the narrator or if his annoying voice added to the distaste. Vaughn was such an a**. He was arrogant and selfish and I honestly didn’t understand the chemistry between the two of them. Add the narrator’s voice??! He spoke way too fast and came off as the guy from Price is Right who explains the prizes being offered. His representation of Vaughn’s voice made me physically flinch. It was terrible. Maybe I would have liked the story better had I just read it. I almost DNF’d it a few times because he was so cringe.

The story itself was okay. Billy definitely kept me going and if her character wasn’t written so well I couldn’t have done it.

Great love story

Really enjoyed listening to this book. The storyline was great. I loved how the underdog overcame. The characters were amazing the narrators did a wonderful job. I hope there is a second book to tell the story between the brother and the jock.

Can you fall in love with a horse? ABSOLUTELY. BUT TRUTH, I fell in love with every word of this book.

I read the Chestnut Springs series, loved every word, so I knew I’d like the Gold Rush Ranch stories but wow. Billie Black has not only stolen Vaughn Harding’s heart but she’s taken over the “top heroine” slot in my mind. I adore her!

Vaughn is struggling to deal with the Gold Rush Ranch his grandfather left him. When Billie Black, race horse trainer, crashes into his life he bristles. Then he falls hard.

Loved their banter. There snark. And then their steamy scenes.

Oh and can you fall in love with a horse? Oh yes. ABSOLUTELY 💙💙💙 The horse nobody wanted to work with. The horse that brought Billie and Vaughn together

The narrations for this story are perfection. These narrators completely embody Vaughn, Billie and the rest of the compelling characters.

Love!

Such a cute story and great writing style, I love every Elsie Silver book yet! The only (very small) downside is this wasn’t my favorite male narrator and he felt a little too performative.

This story is so darn good.

I could live in Elsie Silver land forever. I love everything that Elsie writes. This book was exceptionally well narrated. By some of my favorite narrators. I laughed. I cried. I was totally biting my nails at certain points. This is a beautiful story that you just don’t want to miss

Small Town/Sports Romance

The FMC, Billie, was likable from the start. I respected her, especially when she stuck to her beliefs no matter how uncomfortable they made someone feel because it was the right thing to do. She was unapologetic about how she went about it, and that's refreshing. The MMC, Vaughn, almost missed his chance with her. He had character development and redeemed himself. I read the reviews and someone said Billie had more chemistry with her horse than Vaughn. I'm laughing at this truth.
