Publisher's summary

"Why do I have to have moral issues with killing someone? I feel like such a hypocrite! It's worse than a vegetarian touting organically grown steaks." (Eric, physics teacher, involuntary vampire, and part-time demon slayer)

Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in. Luckily for Eric he can rely on his trusty steed and her unwavering support, his flaming sword and its sarcastic wit, and his own snarky sense of humor.

I Need A Part II

Found this book by searching Sean's other works. Good call; gonna listen again.
Monsters, magic, romance, heroes, and an excellent performance; what more could a bored trucker want?

A different kind of Vampire story

I find Sean's voice relaxing and very much enjoy the story. A fantasy/sci-fi Vampire story.

The same old categories won't define this book!

Harry Potter, Interview With The Vampire & a wickedly dry sense of humor all combine to to make this a fun & fascinating read. On to book #2 !

What a spectacular story and performance

OK, this series hits me in all of the right... places?..spaces?..feels?.. Urban Fantasy+Sci-Fi+Military Conflict+Interesting Scientific Theories/Inquiries+Geekfest... whats not to LOVE? Deeply enriched and developed characters..and what characters... fantastically developed worlds...worlds? dimension? Alternate time-line? building... Runnette delivers Eric/Hallar/Vlad in an all encompassing, dry humored, sarcastic. symphony. The POSSIBILITIES of development of this series is simply staggering. and should allow Mr. Whited to write oh.. 3-400 books in the series... and I definitely want to see SOMEDAY come to fruition and all of the plans for someday developed...

What a fascinating, imaginative story weaved and built on a ever evolving universe. Can’t wait to get to the next book. Thank you for crafting such an attention grabbing tale!

Sciency-magic and Kingdom Building

Spellmonger meets Destiny's Crucible meets Castlevania. If you're into kingdom-building stories like Thorensen's Destiny's Crucible series or the Spellmonger series by Terry Mancour, splashed with a little "you killed my wife, prepare to die" revenge, then you will find this series familiar and equally entertaining.

Pedagogical main character builds a kingdom from nothing but his smarts and charismatic "lead by example" attitude while bucking inegalitarian social norms and fighting off invading ne'er-do-wells.

Fantastic book

Some aspects was repeated a lot, but it was to display how the character saw him self. As such not a detriment
