About this listen

Carla Neggers has a magic touch for weaving spine-tingling suspense with romance so sensual it takes your breath away. Here she's at her best, in a delightful potpourri of dangerous intrigue, enchanting wit, and spellbinding desire.

This time Piper Macintosh's great-aunt has really gone too far. Eighty-seven-year-old Hannah, who fancies herself a witch, has sold her historic Cape Cod house to a Tennessean whom she claims is the man for her niece. Piper doesn't think they're a likely match - particularly not after she meets the reclusive tycoon while trespassing in his garden.

Clate Jackson has come to the windswept Cape to forget, not to get involved with the woman who's digging up valerian root for her great-aunt's crazy potions. But when Hannah reveals an old family secret and warns of danger on the horizon, Clate reluctantly works with Piper to solve a long-ago murder. Unraveling the secrets of Clate's past, however, will take what only Piper can supply: her healing love and her own boldly passionate heart.

For some reason I was caught off guard with this read because I very thoroughly enjoyed it. The story was well-developed, well-written and well-performed. It had great romance and mystery….and I really didn’t want it to end, I wanted more of the happily ever after. I highly recommend.

Great Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Simple, light, romantic mystery. It was a good beach read. This was my first Carla Neggers book and I will buy another.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this author and narrator. I enjoyed the story and the narrator did a good job with it.

Just what I was looking for in a "beach" listen - a bit of tension, a bit of romance, a bit of mystery (and a bit predictable). Amanda Dolan did a fine performance with the various voices, especially the Cape Cod voices and thank you for the men sounding like men and not 15-year-old teenagers as do some female narrators.

Exactly what I wanted to hear.

The mystery that surrounds Frye's Cove will keep you guessing until the author decides to give you the answer. This was a well-written story and I enjoyed the performance by the narrator however it does have a bit of a slow start. But once you get going it's a pretty good mystery.

Here is a big surprise - to me - a romantic thriller that is just too much fun. I never read these but the lure of
buried treasure was too much for me to
resist. Just great fun. Bright, breezy, interesting people doing such interesting things all the while the Treasure and the mysterious deaths
keep calling. Try it. A lovely change from the grim deaths and revolting
people in the hard core mystery genre.

I enjoyed the characters especially Hanna. I loved the mystery tied around the love story

Entertaining Very

Really empowering, really awesome characters. Loved the small town setting. My only issue is that they decided to move in together a little too fast in the end. Other than that, it was a great book.

Very good suspense with just the right amount of romance. Great writing of the senior people in the story.
