About this listen

Plants are easier than people - that’s Leo’s rule of thumb. After all, nobody really wants a man who looks like he belongs in a biker gang but would rather spend his time buried in books and flowers. It’s just easier to be single. Until he meets the owner of the new book shop.

Jacob Morris knows two things: He’s really attracted to the man who runs the local flower shop, and he doesn’t date. Not when he’s still healing from a bad breakup, has a new business to run, game nights to organize, workshops to host, and a website to build.

When friendship blooms into something more, Leo and Jay must decide whether to roll the dice and take a chance on love or keep forging ahead on their quests alone. Will their roll yield a one or a perfect, natural 20?

Natural Twenty is an 80,000-word contemporary-MM romance featuring Dungeons & Dragons, secret flower language bouquets, a spoiled Staffy (or two), and a best friend who is basically a gothic prince. It is book one in the Roll for Love series and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Leo believes that flowers are easier to deal with than people. Awkward in social situations, he doesn't do relationships. Jacob has moved to town and opened a book store. He is trying to recover from a BAD, long term relationship that has left him with serious self worth issues. They meet and are attracted to each other, but afraid to go forward..
Great story, lots of humor, some angst, and steamy. Love Charlie's books and this one is no exception.
LOVE Joel Leslie as a narrator, he did his usual superb job.

I am a gamer geek, collector of shiny math rocks, and fan of tabletop RPGs. You don't have to be any of those things to enjoy this book! But it does make my inner geek chick squeal with glee to see a book series with a theme like this. Add in Charlie Novak's ability to spin a quality yarn and you have a winner all the way. Leo is so sweet and humble with his secret language of flowers too. I adored this book and throw in one of the best audiobook narrators out there in Joel Leslie and you absolutely can't roll a critical fail.

A critical success! A true nat 20!

Great new to me author, and a Joel Leslie narration... equals a fantastic drive to and from work!
Friends to lovers, a book store owner and a florist.. throw in a couple BFF’s and a dog and you can’t get much better.

Highly recommended!

I love the guys who love their pups! It’s the cutest!

C.N has a way of writing characters that have intrusive friends but they are the best friends you could ask for. They are the friends that nudge you in the right direction and knock you head back on straight when you can’t see what’s right in front of you 🖤🖤🖤

All the pup love!

I loved Leo and Jay!! Leo owns a flower shop; he is a big tattooed “gentle giant” who has problems talking to people and making friends. Essentially, he is a loner. Jay owns the bookstore across the way and is open and sweet, but inside he is a mess who thinks he is not good enough. He has no faith in himself. These two need to learn to navigate and communicate. Joel Leslie did a fantastic job with the narration!!!

Loved Leo and Jay!!

I absolutely love Leo and Jay!! This story had all the sweet low angst feels that I love! I love how the relationship between the two developed!

It took me a little while to get used to the narrator's voice but once I did I really enjoyed it!!

Sweet Read

Natural Twenty (audiobook)
MMy Thoughts and Confessions

After a Winter of dreariness and discontent, along comes a story filled with new beginnings, the language of flowers, and the quiet and desperate truths of indie shop owners. A modern-day romance with delightful characters who warm the heart, pull out the chuckles here and there and even stir emotions of hope, friendship, and found family.

I loved everything about this story from the occupations of the MCs, the colorful characters, and even the title reference. Every aspect of this book was charming and delightful.

One cannot go without mentioning the out-of-this-world narration done by the incomparable, Joel Leslie. What makes Leslie stand out above the rest, in stories such as, “Natural Twenty,” is his ability to land the jokes; to pause, if even for a nanosecond while the listener’s brain catches on to the pun or punch line. Joel’s style when it comes to the intimate scenes is so hot, the images become tattooed in your mind to savor for later.

If you need/ want/ desire a book to escape into, “Natural Twenty,” is definitely going to ping all the right spots in your imagination. You will gobble up the friendships like a tasty treat and savor the romance like a decadent wine.

I highly recommend this dual POV story about a florist who speaks through his flowers, and a small bookshop owner trying to keep from losing himself in the stacks.

As a fellow d&d and book geek, I was a big fan of all the geekdom nods. Jay & Leo are sweet and adorable. The spice scenes were generally very hot, one or two were over the top for me personally, but still steamy.
Narrator deserves top marks for his work here, he gets very into the spirit of things at times. And to my non-UK ear, did an amazing jobs with the various UK accents.

Cute and very spicy
