Forgot how much I love this story

I read this book quite a few years ago. When I saw it on Audible, I decided to purchase it as I got it for a cheaper prices since I own in on Kindle. I'm glad I did. The narrator was just fantastic on this book and it was fun to listening to. I also forgot that it was based on a true story. So a great and sad story with a wonderful ending. Really enjoyed this

Carla Kelly is the best!

I have read many Carla Kelly books. She is probably my favorite author. She is a fantastic story teller and her stories are so good you can’t put down the book or shut off the audiobook! I love that I never have to worry about her romance novels getting too racy for my taste. They are always a beautiful love story though.

An engaging, heartwarming thrill.

Steeped in actual, well-researched history, Carla Kelly weaves an engaging story that is hard to put down. Her characters are so relatable and it is easy to invest yourself in their story and struggles. Based on true events, this story looks at the lives of the miners through a very personal eye. I completely fell in love with Della and Owen and loved how the Welsh song "All Through the Night" is woven into the story. I wish I could listen again for the very first time.

my favorite book

I've read this book twice and now listened to it on Audible . I grew up going to Scofield, Utah, so the location is dear to me heart. Even if I had no connection to the location, it would still be one of my favorite love stories from a book.

Moving

Tender Powerful story of love and mercy. Beautifully written as I was so wrapped up in the characters I found myself crying for their heartache. God bless those miner and the strong wives.

Heartfelt historical romance based on true events

My Loving Vigil Keeping was hard to put down! The characters were so rich and endearing! They were people you’d like to meet in real life and get to know. I loved the various cultures in the story including: Welch, Greek, Finnish, Italian, and German to name a few.

The story itself was at times funny, sweet, romantic, heart wrenching, and hopeful as the lives of these brave miners, their families, and a devoted school teacher play out against one of the worst mining disasters in U.S. history.

The element of faith was so well done in this story. Showing both the trials of imperfect people trying to live their faith, but also the beautiful support that they lend to each other as different cultures from all parts of the world strive to live together. Though this book focuses mainly on members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, anyone who enjoys faith based stories would enjoy this.

I also loved the romance in this story. Della’s and Owen’s story was a great slow build romance that was enjoyable to anticipate. They each have fears and their own struggles to overcome. I loved their first kiss depending on a little boy learning to read and a broom!

The audiobook version of this book took a little getting used to at first. I am used to especially female narrators lowering their voice for male characters. This narrator infused a lot of emotion in her reading, but didn’t change her voice other than to use an accent with characters from other countries. Once I got used to her style, I really enjoyed it.

Highly recommend this audiobook! I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from Cedar Fort for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own and I was not required to give a positive review.
