About this listen

After playing a TV sleuth for years, Rita Martin retires to the sleepy town of Frantham-on-Sea. Here on the Dorset coast, she runs her own immaculate guest house, and life is blissfully quiet.

But then a few doors down, harmless old Mrs. Freer is bludgeoned to death, and Rina can’t help but be drawn into the mystery. Mrs. Freer’s home was ransacked, but this was no ordinary burglary. Who knew the old lady kept a gun stashed under her pillow? And who wanted it badly enough to kill?

Detective Sebastian McGregor is called in to solve this baffling case. But with her neighbors’ safety at stake, Rina knows she needs to give him a helping hand.

This enchanting character-driven mystery was originally published as A Reason to Kill.

I loved the characters, the story and the narrator. I will definitely be getting the next audio book in this wonderful series.

I rather liked to story and the narrration. I Can’t wait for the next book.

Good story

At first I was doubtful. It took some time to introduce all the characters and the narrator’s choice of voices was a bit over the top, even irritating. It was sounding like a bunch of old people. And Adam’s weaving of several sub-stories made it seem like a set-up for a series of books.

But after the scene, the people and the plot were finally all set up, it moved along quite well, built suspense and made us care about how it would all get resolved.

Bond got more comfortable with her performance and we began to accept it too.

All in all I’d read the next one if there is one.

Well done.

Murder on Sea is a dark cozy mystery but it's worth it. I look forward to the next book.

Highly Entertaining

I listen to a lot of audio books and I am fairly easy to please and normally make it to the end. I listened to 2 hours of this one and I have to quit. The narrator speaks every phrase and every voice with exaggerated emotion and it’s just too much. The story is slow and drawn out and just not worth my time.

Cannot get through this one

This was the most sad and depressing book I have ever listened to. I’m sorry I wasted my time.
