Good book

I enjoyed this book. However, the story dragged along for about 5 chapters. I did love the fact that the plot twist were unexpected. I didnt expect the story to pan out the way it did. Like MK!! That's was very unexpected. Also, in the beginning I felt Penny would end up in love with Floyd and she would get hurt eventually mental and physically. So, the end of the story was very pleasant.
This book is definitely ringing that old saying my grandmother use to tell me growing up that
everything that glitters ain't gold!

Great storytelling

Loved this narrator. Deep gravelly black male voice and smooth female. Felt I was back in the 40’s. Not too hard to take the mistreatment of the era - woven in a believable way - at least the way I wanted to hear it. Will look for more from both author and narrator

Awesome Storytelling

Wow! I could just imagine this on the big screen. The costumes, the cars, and old St. Louis as the backdrop. The imperfect hero Baltimore was very complex. Good character development.

Fantastic!!!

Where to begin? I stumbled upon this book while looking for a romance novel. Let me first say that Ezra Knight can do no wrong when it comes to narration of a book! He is by far one of the best to ever do it. He actually performs the stories. He doesn't just read. Now to the book, this was my first listen by this author. However, it certainly won't be my last. I can't wait to listen to everything he has on Audible. Generally, I don't listen to books without any Audible reviews , but this was a winner! Though there are multiple characters in the book, the character development is so good that you feel like you know each one of them personally. I was invested in each one of the characters lives. I actually cared about what happened to them. Baltimore and Penny were my favorites. Grab this book quick.

This needs to be adapted into a broadway play or for the big screen !!!!!

It’s been a long time since I’ve listened to a book that was this engaging and well written. I throughly enjoyed getting to know (and become attached ) to each and every single character in this book !!! I loved the bond shared between Etta & Baltimore I love the intense love trust and adoration they shared. I loved the fierce protectors they became immediately for Penny !!! Just a great read all around. Bonus : Read by the incomparable Ezra Knight !!!! Bravo , bravo sir !!!

Hang on to your hats, you're going on a ride

I loved this book, it felt like watching a movie with all of the details that we tend to overlook when we're watching it on screen.

GREAT BOOK!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the narration was on point. At times it seemed a bit comical, but overall all it was a good book.
