About this listen

Adrian Monk is actually doing well lately. He's solving murders as fast as they come, and he's been noticeably less compulsive - he doesn't count his morning Wheat Chex until they're in the bowl. Progress is progress, and Monk knows he owes it all to his therapist, Dr. Kroger. So when Dr. Kroger attends a conference in Germany, Monk ends up in trouble. He can't tie his shoes, forgets how to swallow, and loses track of his blinking. Desperate to regain his footing, Monk follows his shrink to Germany. And that's where Monk sees the man across a crowded town square. The man he's never stopped searching for. The man with six fingers. The man responsible for his wife's death. Or did Monk imagine crossing paths with him? Now, in a foreign land full of…foreigners, Monk must deal with his multitude of phobias and contend with an especially unfriendly polizei department in order to find the six-fingered man. He also must confront someone who thinks Monk may have just gone officially insane - his own psychiatrist.

good, but...

I really liked that the reader's voice is so close to Traylor Howard's. It sounds as if Natalie is narrating the story. My one complaint is that Dale the Whale's last name is pronounced buy-der-beck, not bee-der-back. Bix lives...

Overall enjoyable but not as good as the show. Slow build and then the story felt rushed.

Up, Up and Away

Though we laugh at Monk and the way he chases he Psychiatrist all over, though you must feel for a tortured soul that just can't heal. . Really nice afternoon listen. Enjoy.....

Another great Monk novel

Where does Mr. Monk Goes to Germany rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

This novel ranks very high - along with the other Monk novels and light mystery novels I own.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mr. Monk Goes to Germany?

When Monk flys he has to take a drug that lowers his phobia anxiety. I love how Lee Goldberg uses this to show the playful side of Monks character.

Have you listened to any of Angela Brazil???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have heard the other Monk novels narrated by her and she is fantastic. Angela Brazil truly embodies the mood of the Monk novels and each book is enjoyable to listen to.

Any additional comments?

When I listen to these books you can tell that the author has fun writing them and that the narrator has fun reading them. The Monk novels are light and fluffy mystery novels - just like the show was. If you loved the show Monk you will most likely love the novels too.

Monk is at his best on two continents!

What did you love best about Mr. Monk Goes to Germany?

Mr Monk really comes alive in this book. I loved the TV series but this book gave so much more info--descriptions, and plot complexity. As usual, the book is better than the

Which scene was your favorite?

It's hard to pick a favorite scene, because the whole book was engaging and very entertaining. But the scene where Mr Monk is chest-deep in mud will have you LOL!

If you loved Monk, you'll like this

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story is true to the characters from the TV show. Since the Monk characters are so well known to the reader, you fall right into the story quickly. Although the mystery has some nice plot twists, the book is not great literature, I and I would not recommend it to a friend who was not already a fan of Monk.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The obsessive/ compulsive detective lives on - on the big screen.

Light, Smart and Fun

I loved the Monk TV series, and have either read or listened to all of the books by Lee Goldberg.

Angela Brazil does an excellent job narrating as Nathalie, capturing the character and making me see Monk through her eyes.

The story is very good - if you like enjoyable, not-dark mysteries. While there is a main story, a main mystery to be solved, Monk (as in the other books) solves "mini-crimes" along the way. So, it's entertaining, does not drag on, and is a nice, pleasant listen.

Two different Monks!

I hadn't ever read how he turned into "The Monkster" when he took the calming drug before flying. Hilarious. It was fun to see how he solved murders both as Mr Monk and The Monkster. And the narrator was very good.
