Acerca de esta escucha

Meeting the family is scary. Surviving them is a nightmare.

Connie can't deny she's nervous about meeting her boyfriend's family. Spending the weekend at their ritzy woodland summer home, Evan's already given her fair warning that his parents are cold, snobbish, and especially unpleasant toward those outside their usual social circles.

So when Evan's mother warmly greets them with open arms, Connie is as confused as he is. Evan's parents are nothing like he described. They're so friendly, in fact, Evan himself can hardly believe they're real.

Then, while helping Evan's mother with dinner preparations Connie overhears strange noises coming from the basement—what almost sounds like voices calling out for help.

Connie doesn't realize that once the door is opened, it can't be closed. Or that once she descends those rickety steps into the darkness below... she may never see the light of day again.

From horror author Abe Moss comes a relentlessly fast-paced supernatural nightmare that will have you listening late into the night and afraid to turn out the lights long after you're done.

I really did enjoy listening to this book. I only am disappointed with not much explanation in the ending. What made the creatures or whatever they were do what they did maybe I missed it ?

The mystery

I feel like the basement was found too early. In my opinion, it didn't give enough time to care about the characters. Also there was no explanation at all of what the creatures or children were or where they come from. That kills me in a story to be left wondering. Other than that, it had it's good points too. I loved the grittiness of the death scenes. Sometimes horror tends to be prettier on paper instead of the messy backwardness of real life.

I really was just a morsel

It’s a super quick paste story. It gives simple details but not too much on the main characters which I enjoyed. I like how it just gets going super quick and answers little questions along the way to keep you interested.

Quick passed and loved it!

Kinda glad it was only a couple of bucks not sure I would have continued to listen

Crazy story

Most books I can pretty much guess the outcome. But Abe is a great story teller and you never see the ending until the last several pages.

Definitely kept me guessing

But I thoroughly enjoyed it. Weird strange horrible grotesque gruesome but interesting in a very off kilter sort of way

Not for everyone..

I couldn't finish this book, so I forwarded it to the end and wrote this review. I love horror novels, but this was just unbearable. Too gross, and poorly written.

Terrible

*spoiler alert*
This book was bad. I have to compliment the narrator as she did well with what she had to work with. It was like watching a cheesy horror flick made with a budget of $99.
Silly beyond your imagination. No closure as to what the doppelgängers were or where they came from.
You think it can’t get worse about 2 hours in, but it does! Typically as a book goes on, your wondering and questions are answered. Not the case here. I’m left with and what in the actual &$?! did I just listen to.

Thankfully it was a daily deal for $2.99 otherwise I would be asking for a refund.

Like a terrible B or maybe even D horror movie

There's barely an outline of a plot. The monsters are an incohesive mess, like if the Wrong Turn mutants and the Sanderson Sisters somehow produced offspring with the least interesting qualities of either. The dialogue is atrocious and unnatural.

Horror knockoff with neither nerve nor knack

Bravo! This is a book I would have loved at 16. Funny how some things never change. I’m 70, and although it didn’t scare me, I enjoyed the banter and the nod to victims of pedophiles

Not my genre - BUT I LOVED IT!
