About this listen

A decade on from their first kiss, Luke Murray is more in love with Simon every day. Running the Lost Cow ranch for Luke's parents, they keep their heads down and get along with the locals, even if Luke is known for being a hothead. Then one day they discover the local store owners refuse to serve them.

They're bewildered until Luke's mom tells them the new pastor has targeted the couple in his sermons. Suddenly Luke and Simon find themselves alienated from people they called friends, and their ranch comes under a series of attacks. As the town's hatred and homophobia turns on them, Luke and Simon will face a critical choice: give in to the town's demands and disappear, or stand and fight for themselves and their love.

Cowboy Goodness

I have read this book and really enjoyed the audio version. The narrator did a great job at bringing these characters to life. This is the first book of a series and the story is really sweet. This is about an established couple who really love each other. The conflict comes in when a new pastor comes to their small town and starts anti gay crap talk. The plot is a little weak but still enjoyable. Worth a credit.

Epic Fail on Choice of Voice Talent

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have read all of the books in this series. I loved all of them and really enjoy this writers style. I heard the opening of the audio book and was immediately wary. Short story... I didn't make if half way through the first chapter. The VO is aweful. I think the author chose the wrong voice talent for this book. The character "voices" were indistinct and not nearly masculine enough for my taste. A shame that this great book wasn't better represented by the audio version. I'm glad I purchased this as an audio add on so I'm only out $2.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Aaron Pickering?

Gomez Pugh

A steamy cowboy romance erotica!

I read to book 2 first so I was very curious about Simon and Luke's story.
This was one of my favorite in the series and I loved how they overcame their share of hardships to be together.

This book was so well written and so very steamy!!
The narrator did q great job of executing this steamy romance and gave the characters their own voices.

What did you like best about Morning Report? What did you like least?

This story is a large part PWP. Which is fine, I quite like PWP, but in an audiobook it gets a bit boring. You could almost predict - conflict scene, sex scene. Conflict scene, sex scene. And so on.
The main confrontation in the book, which is built up and built up, never actually happens, which leaves things unresolved and the reader (listener) unsatisfied.
The narrator's voice was great for about 90% of the book, then there was a few voices that pulled me totally out of the story. The characterisation - by both the writer and the narrator - was good.
There's also an underlying Christian message that rears its head at the end and just squicked me the fuck out. It has its place, but it's not what I want in my gay romance.

Facing Hate

These men have a long relationship but now their love is being tried and tested by forces outside of their control. It is hard to think about one person's hate could spread so far and lead to so many horrible consequences. And yet there is the hope that is presented in another pastor who shows a different way. While this story takes Luke and Simon through a roller coaster of emotions we get to see that love can win and yet it seems to take a beating. It is also a reminder to remain true to those most important to use not matter what presses us from outside.
