About this listen

The “graceful, loving” (The New York Times Book Review), never-before-told story of Hollywood icon Natalie Wood’s glamorous life, sudden death, and lasting legacy, written by her daughter, Natasha Gregson Wagner.

Natasha Gregson Wagner’s mother, Natalie Wood, was a child actress who became a legendary movie star, the dark-haired beauty of Splendor in the Grass and West Side Story. She and Natasha’s stepfather, the actor Robert Wagner, were a Hollywood it-couple twice over, first in the 1950s, and then again when they remarried in the '70s. To Natasha, she was, above all, a doting, loving mom.

But Natalie’s sudden death by drowning off Catalina Island at the age of 43 devastated her family, turned Robert Wagner into a person of interest, and transformed a vibrant wife, mother, and actress into a figure of tragedy. The weekend has long been shrouded in rumors and scandalous tabloid speculation, but until now there has never been an account of how the events and their aftermath were experienced by Natalie’s beloved eldest daughter. Here, for the first time, is a “deeply intimate chronicle of life with her famous mother and how Wood’s death devastated the family” (Los Angeles Times).

Cutting through the shadow hanging over her mother’s legacy, More Than Love is a “poignant” (The Washington Post) tale of a daughter coming to terms with her grief, as well as a “revealing new look at Natalie Wood” (Good Morning America).

My heart 😍

Audiobook

I’m a lifelong fan of Natalie Wood, from Miracle on 34th Street to West Side Story to sneaking into the R-rates The Last Marries Couple in America I loved watching her on the big and small screen. Her death was the first famous person’s that knocked me to my knees in grief, as if a close friend had died.

MORE THAN LOVE: AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT OF MY MOTHER NATALIE WOOD, written and narrated by her daughter Natasha Gregson Wagner gave me insight into her life and death I’d never had before. I loved every minute of it. At first Natasha’s voice sounded strange, unlike the narration of other audiobooks. After a few minutes, I fell almost as much in love with Natasha and her quirky voice as I did her mom, my idol Natalie Wood.

If you love Natalie Wood or want family insight into her life, from a daughter’s perspective MORE THAN LOVE: AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT OF MY MOTHER NATALIE WOOD is a must listen/read.

different perspective

After listening to Lana's book I was so caught up in the suspicious death of Natalie Wood I thought I would give Natasha's book a try. I have come away having trouble believing RJ could ever hurt Natalie. Why would he? His devotion to their kids (by blood or not) practically proves he could never have hurt the woman who made them a family. Very engrossing book told by her beautiful and
loving daughter.

love letter to her mother

This is the book we needed at this time when people with financial interest want to continue to make something out of nothing in relation to how Natalie Wood passed away. when you listen to the other books or the podcasts it is clear that there is no real case to pursue, just speculation. Natasha brings forward her history with her parents, and she is the only one who can do that. As she said in the book, when you are the child of a famous person, everyone tells you who your parent was. I appreciate that Natasha is able to have this voice and tell us who her mother was in an intimate, relatable way. Anyone else who speculates that there is something nefarious here has financial incentive to do so. This text is the definite biography that beautifully weaves Natalie's life with the lives of her daughters, which is what I believe she would want. It is a must read (must listen) for Natalie fans who want to understand the dynamic, strong, intelligent woman that she was and will continue to be for new generations of fans to come.

For all those who mourn

If you are/were a Natalie Wood fan, this book will answer your questions. Natasha’s life is a true wonder, giving insight to the life of a celebrity’s child, and more depth to her mother. Most of us didn’t really think of Natalie as a Mom, yet that was a huge part of her life, which she kept mostly private. I wish Natasha, Barry and Clover peace and joy in life ahead.
