Publisher's summary

Falling for the wrong person? Bury your feelings.

Callum Flannelly would rather dive into an open grave than take a stranger to dinner. But he can only inherit the family undertaking business under one condition: He must marry before his 35th birthday. So it’s out of the mortuary and into the dating scene.

Lark Thompson came to Galway, Ireland to embrace life, not be reminded of losing her husband by moving in next to a funeral home. Then, the vivacious Texan animator learns of painfully shy Callum’s dilemma and makes it her mission to help him find The One.

Although she's sworn off love herself, she’s certain Callum will find his match. But as the dating project progresses and their friendship grows, their attraction is undeniable. Spending time with serious, sarcastic Callum starts to crack the ice around Lark’s heart, and the more color Lark brings to Callum’s monochrome existence, the less he can imagine life without her.

If they think they can ignore their connection, they’re dead wrong.

TikTok sensation Morbidly Yours is an opposites-attract romantic dramedy about a shy, demisexual Irish mortician who must marry by his thirty-fifth birthday to keep his beloved family business, and the Texan widow escaping her past who moves in next door.

Grief Romance

The premise of this book caught my attention from the start. It talks about processing and handling grief throughout. We see how people handle loss differently. Pain can sometimes recognize pain and you may find a friend in the most unlikely of places.

Lark is dealing with survivor's guilt in a way and blaming herself for the death of her husband. Her best friend Rachel lashed out and hurt her when she needed her the most so she packed up her life for a new start in Ireland.

The introverted man next door struggles to put himself out in the world and he must if he intends to keep his family business. His grandfather wanted him to carry the torch, but he also wanted him to find someone to share life with. Now he must marry before his 35th birthday.

Lark befriends Callum and helps spruce up his dating profile. She has sworn off marriage herself, but is willing to help him get out of his comfort zone. They become each other's support system during life's struggles.

It is a cute story with room for more. I expect this will be a series that follows some other characters that we have met along the way. The ending felt a little rushed, so it would be great to have a bit more information in a future book. I loved that this author did not shy away from the topic of grief. It is an important topic that often authors shy away from.

Super Cute!!!

I loved the lighthearted storyline, that also showed us real examples of what it's like to be vulnerable and heal through our vulnerability.

One of my favorite books.

I first read this when the author independently published. It is so awesome to see how this book has brought so many people together.

Beautifully narrated

The distinction between the characters and accents was impeccable. Highly recommend listening to appreciate the true dialect.

Excellent double readers with accents

This is a fabulous book. I devoured this. If I ever read /listen to contemporary romance, I prefer for there to be something unique and not stereotypical about it, and this achieved that. There is nothing like two people who understand death to ultimately cherish life. Characters pushing past two very different types of avoidance find their own strength and ultimately balance each other out with a beautiful opposites attract. Great spice. Five stars. I couldn’t put it down.

Chefs kiss!

Love, love loved everything about this book (aside from the faux Texan accent by the female narrator- being a native Texan this always gives me the ick because the ‘southern’ accent is not a Texan accent per say, we all have different accents down south)

This book was emotionally impactful, hilarious, sweet and the spice was SPICING! Who doesn’t love an awkward, dirty talking Irishman!! Give me all the swoon for Callum!

All in all this was a fantastic feel good romance with a little bit of death to make you laugh. The audio was fantastic (aside from my one complaint but that’s a personal issue) Oh and a magician rat.

Good Romance

The story was mostly enjoyable but towards the end I started to find the FMC less likable. So much so that I was sort of rooting for the MMC to choose another character. It came back together at the very end, so overall I think it was worth the read. Now for the narration. The male narrator was great. His voice was pleasant and enjoyable. I’m not sure if he is Irish or if he just does a good accent but I really enjoyed his performance. The FMC in this story is supposed to be a Texas native, so the female narrator put on a southern accent. I found the accent so grating that I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to listen to this book. For some reason people tend to over exaggerate a southern accent to the point that it comes off as inauthentic and hokey. This was definitely the case here. As the story went on, the narrator leaned a little less into the accent so I found it more tolerable. I do think the accent may have added to my annoyance with the character. I think my rating overall would have been higher if the female narrator had just used her normal voice for the FMC b/c without the accent she was really nice to listen to.
