About this listen

Meet Molly Danger, "the princess of finesse," and the most powerful ten-year old in the world. She protects Coopersville, New York from the villainous Supermechs, has legions of devoted fans, and more fame than anyone can fathom. But what she really wants more than anything…is a friend. A family. And a real life. Meanwhile, the forces of evil are converging to rock Molly's world. For 20 years she has been led to believe that she's an immortal alien whose family died when their ship crash-landed on Earth, genetically altered by the earth's atmosphere. She also believes that she is the last of her people. She is wrong - very wrong…

Adapted from the acclaimed all-ages graphic novel by Jamal Igle and Action Lab, here comes Molly Danger! And this is only the beginning…

Critic reviews

"There's a lot of fun to be had in this first volume as we discover who Molly is and what she stands for, while simultaneously setting up the plot to future events. I had the biggest smile on my face throughout, and anxiously await the second book." (Cameron Hatheway, Bleeding Cool.)
"The first audiobook of Molly Danger is one recent release I have no problem recommending to listeners everywhere. Some listeners will definitely get more out of it than others, but in a medium starved for fresh ideas, new characters and increasing diversity wrapped in a fun story, Molly Danger answers the call. This is one of the most fun comics I've listened to this year and I personally cannot wait for Book Two." ( Comic Book Resources)

An animated feature film minus the picture

Would you consider the audio edition of Molly Danger to be better than the print version?

I haven't seen the print version, but the full-cast recording is so vivid that to read the print version now might be a letdown.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Molly Danger?

The interactions among the characters are really well done. I particularly enjoyed Robin Miles' performance.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's so much more than narration, or even full-cast narration. It really is a movie minus picture. Be prepared to feel disoriented at first - sound effects can be very, very , um, present - but when you get used to the sound design and the overall pacing, it is a total thrill ride.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I hadn't planned to listen to Molly Danger in one sitting, but time just kind of flew.

Any additional comments?

Stay close to your listening device's volume control, at least until your ears become accustomed to the richness of the sound. Some of the effects can be alarming.

Unlistenable.

Would you try another book from the authors and/or the narrators?

Never. The kids in the car actually asked me to turn it off.

What could the authors have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Can't really comment on writing because audio mix made book unlistenable.

How could the performance have been better?

What I heard of the main character Molly's performance was fine, but it barely registered in this awful mix.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment that I had wasted my money. Determination to never purchase anything from this production company again.

Any additional comments?

Took me two listening sessions just to get through the first 7 minutes, and I only gave it a second listen because Jamal Igle is such a talented creator and I believe so strongly in the idea of giving young girls better role models. Really is the worst, most overproduced and poorly mixed thing I've ever heard. Save yourself the money and (literal) headache; buy the graphic novel.
