About this listen

My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead.

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss’ family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans - except Katniss.

The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss’ willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels’ Mockingjay - no matter what the personal cost.

Gut Wrenchingly Good

Gut Wrenchingly Good

Collins has done a wonderful job of adding to the dystopian canon. Maslany was able to convey such a range of emotions with simple adjustments in her tone and her reflections. I found myself tearing up more times than I would like to admit.

Fantastic voice acting.

One of the best voice actors I've ever heard in an audiobook. Really brought the characters to life and her singing on the folk songs was so bare and moving

Awesome narrator!

This series will always be one of my faves. I was afraid that I wouldn’t like the narration - as I usually am - but Tatiana Maslany did a fantastic job portraying Katniss. Very impressed!

Tatiana IS Katniss- wonderful and engaging!

Narrator was great!
The comments starting she was "bored" or "breathy" seem to be made by people who haven't read this themselves or seen the movies yet. She embodies Katniss's mental state and thoughts in her narration. Her inflection reflects how Katniss views the story. I have read each book multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed Tatiana's performance!

Love the narrator!

I should mention that I have not seen the movies. I also don’t generally write reviews, but I HAD to for this trilogy. I listened to all three books in a matter of a few days. The narrator had excellent emotion and inflection in her voices for not only katniss but all the characters, which enhances an audiobook so much. After finishing another audiobook series where that was lacking, this book was an amazing contrast. I thought I recognized the narrator’s voice, but wasn’t totally sure from where. When I finished this book I looked up her name and was not that surprised to find out that she’s the main actress from a show that I binge-watched a few months ago, in a similar manner to the way I couldn’t stop listening to this series. She’s incredibly talented and I wish she had more audiobooks narrated! The books themselves were very interesting in content, in both world-building and inter-character relationships. Dystopian is one of my favorite genres, but i think the mainstream popularity of the movies influenced me to postpone exploring the books, which was a mistake. I plan on listening to the series again in the future, because it was that well done!
