Publisher's summary

Kelly Williams Brown, author of Easy Crafts for the Insane and the New York Times best-selling book Adulting, and Lizzie Post, co-president of The Emily Post Institute and author of Higher Etiquette, team up in this Audible Original for a hilarious romp through other people’s most embarrassing moments - plus a few of their own. Tapping into years’ worth of etiquette knowledge and experience, Kelly and Lizzie consider stories from friends, family, and strangers alike where things go hysterically wrong. Together, the pair attempts to make sense of cringe-worthy situations and offers advice on what, if anything, could have been done differently. Each vignette is served up lovingly with a healthy dose of sympathy and self-deprecating humor (especially when the stories are drawn from their own lives). Mistakes Were Made is a raucous sendup of life in the 21st century that will have you laughing from here until your next faux pas.

Please note: This audio contains strong language and descriptions of adult situations that some listeners may find upsetting. Discretion is advised.

Somewhat funny, but mostly annoying

There were some cute embarrassing stories, but the way the authors consistently interrupt each other in an attempt to spice up the stories, is really annoying and at times cringe-inducing.

Too much banter

I just wanted to hear the stories, not so much the banter back and forth of the authors.

Ewww

I’m sure Emily Post is rolling over in her grave. I’ll just leave that right here.

Like Reddit out loud

Fun listen. For me, it was like someone reading and commenting on Reddit stories and then offering a way not not be TA.

imagine two friends casually talking

there is quite a lot of banter and the stories aren't necessarily useful. I found it more of a time waster, it seemed with so much potential and was looking forward to learn something quite useful but ended up being a disappointment.

So very bad….

I liked the idea of the book and was excited to listen. Such a disappointment. The stories were ridiculous snd not entertaining. They seemed made up at times. Just ridiculous

This was SO MUCH fun to read!

Sometimes you just need a book that just helps you feel connected to the world and just be human, full of flaws, mistakes and embarrasing experiences. Listening to these stories made me laugh, made me remember about my own and, in some way, it helped me moved on from those that I still felt bitter about.
I love reading "professionally oriented" books and reading this one in between... was just perfect. Thank you Lizzie and Kelly I honestly consider you my "audible friends".

So incredibly bad.

Where to start? The stories themselves were underwhelming and not funny. The worst part though was the vapid and chirpy dialog between the two authors. Not funny or remotely entertaining. One of them is innanely proud of coining the term "adulting." Kind of says it all in terms of the adolescent vibe. Painful.

Had to turn it off!

The dialogue has no rhythm and is awkwardly not funny. One girl continually interrupts the stories trying to be witting, while the other girl seems disingenuously laugh. The stories are really boring and the commentary is corny.
