About this listen
They say he has a black heart. They say he is cold, unscrupulous, and dangerous. They say he killed a woman out of jealousy.
Robert Beaufort, the duke of Scuffold, has returned to the castle of his forefathers. To be seen with him means the ruin of any woman’s reputation. When Miss Minerva Honeyfield stumbles upon the duke in an enchanted glade deep in the forest, it is too late to heed her aunt’s warnings.
Her indecent encounter is the most exciting event that has ever happened to Minerva - and also the most dangerous one. Despite knowing that this man is ominous and menacing, Minerva is unable to shield herself from her fascination with the duke of Scuffold.
While Minerva struggles to resign herself to longing for a man who will destroy her name and possibly even threaten her life, her mother suddenly falls into mortal danger - and all indications point to the dark duke.
Has Minerva truly lost her heart to a ruthless murderer?
Romantic - suspenseful - mysterious. A classical historical romance novel that takes place in the shimmering Regency era. Perfect for listeners who like their heroes to be daring and their heroines to be courageous and a little bit adventurous.

Story
As far as Fitzwilliam Darcy is concerned, the only good thing to come of Elizabeth Bennet’s bitter refusal of his heart and his hand was his new resolve to prove himself a better man. He’d done it, too, by closing the painful distance between himself and his estranged younger brother, Drew. And now Drew is newly engaged to be married…to Elizabeth Bennet. Family duty forces Darcy to support the engagement, especially since even the smallest hint of disapproval could ruin the brothers’ hard-won reconciliation. But how can he bear to watch his brother marry the woman he loves?

Story
Dreams of love are all well and good, but all Prunella Chuffington-Smythe wants is to publish her novel. Marriage at the price of her independence is something she will not consider...Robert Adolphus, The Duke of Bedwin, is in no hurry to marry, he’s done it once and repeating that disaster is the last thing he desires...Surely showing the man she’s not actually the meek little wallflower he is looking for should be enough to put paid to his intentions? When Prue is dared by her friends to do something drastic, it seems the perfect opportunity to kill two birds.

Romantic Who-Done-It!
I love the innocence of Minerva and the excited desire for adventure that she has. This she tries to record by attempting to capture her thoughts and ideas in a novel, one that she dreams will be an instant hit and make her famous.
Of course she and the Duke fall madly in love but there is the mystery of who killed his wife to solve first. Was it him or someone else? They have to find out before they can commit to each other and how this happens makes this story a delightful, suspense filled and entertaining one which I am really happy to recommend.
Marion Hussey adds to this suspenseful story with her unique voices.

Intertwining
I liked how the heroine is an aspiring writer and how her story intertwined with the happenings going on, the mystery, the confusion and the attraction between the characters. This story kept me interested and guessing until the end. The narrator is splendid. I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.
