Publisher's summary

You probably won't like my story. Heck, I'm not sure if I even like it myself. Between getting burned at the stake and being drowned, almost twice, it's quite a lot to swallow.

I'm not sure where it all went wrong. Everything was going fine my freshman year of college as a history major. I had a full-time job as a paramedic and any girl I wanted was mine. When tragedy struck our family, I found myself in France with my sister, Jules. And she just had to touch that mirror. She had to get us transported to the middle ages. 1155 A.D., to be exact. What. The. Hell.

So this is the story of how I bedded a queen and married a poet, all to end the family curse. My name is Guillaume, but you can call me Gill, and despite what you hear, this story is all my sister's fault.

Live this book!

Not my normal genre that I read. Could not stop listening to it. The story line is intriguing, the main characters a brother and sister. The narrator does an awesome job. Can't wait to read the next book.

Great narration and detailed story about a modern day young adult man

I was wondering where the story was going as it is short (a little over 3 hours) until I realized this is just volume 1. Be prepared for a cliffhanger. :) Volume 1 is primarily focused on character building so you learn a lot about Gill in the modern day and his sister. In he last hour of the book you get to finally hear about the time travel back to 1154. The story left with a good cliffhanger and has me wanting to get volume two! Great narration and realistic characters.

feels unfinished to me

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a bit slow at first, but picks up and stays at the faster pace for the rest of the time. The narration is well done. There IS a cliffhanger ending, though. At only a couple hours long, this made it feel very unfinished to me. Due to a slow start and a cliffhanger, I was left kind of frustrated and unsatisfied. The overall story is good and I'm interested enough to continue the story if given the opportunity.

Long Intro, Not Much Payoff

This book was 3/4 setup before anything actually intersting took place. Not to say that the story was terrible, it just didn't go anywhere. And despite this, the characters seemed fairly one dimensional and bland. I wasn't left with an overwhelming need to know what came next. It may work better if the rest of the story was packaged with it, or the ending took place with a little more resolution and a little less cliffhanger.

The narration was okay, but there were a couple of obvious mispronounciations that should have been caught and edited out. The character voices were interesting and well defined and the pace was right, despite the story moving so slowly.

I recieved this book for free I exchange for a fair review.

fast-paced time travel story

This is just the beginning of a fast-paced time travel story. I did enjoy it. I found both Gill and his sister, Jules, to be realistic and their relationship very natural. As the two start their journey I’m excited to know more.

Amazon has it under the LGBT category, but it isn’t LGBT. Gill’s sister is a lesbian and they talk about that some, but Gill, who this story follows, is completely straight. That is very clear in the story.

Matthew DeWolf is a new narrator to me and I thought he did a great job. I was able to clearly understand him and follow along.

Great Time Travel Introductory Story

This was my first experience with Rebekah Dodson's work, and I enjoyed it. The first book introduced the main characters and established the time travel. Although the first book only gave a taste of the time period of the past, I am wondering what twists and turns the author will create in her books. I am looking forward to the next book in the series as this one did end on a cliffhanger. I recommend this series to others who enjoy this genre. Matthew DeWolf's narration was fine and entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

More please!

Just as I was settling into this story, it ended. More. Please.

I am loving Gil and Julia and the France of yore that they found themselves in. The groundwork for a great adventure with some seriously likable main characters has begun. Next!!!!!

The narrator was excellent. He captured Gil's nonchalance and youthfulness so well that as a parent of a teen, it made me cringe. It was great!!

I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Unexpected Time Travel Mystery

You start out with a guy named Gill who is a EMT going to College Majoring in History. He is a bit of a Jerk at the start of this Short Story. He has a sister, and his Mother is originally from France. He and his sister, starting at young age were sent to France to visit Anut & Uncle.
The end of this story Definitely leaves you wanting more of the story. Narrator does a good job on this Story.

Excellent

Loved this story! Love time travel! Can’t wait to see what happens next! Made me have a glimpse of A discovery of witches type of time travel and ‘long life’ type story.
Narration was excellent.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy at no charge by the author, publisher and or narrator

good start to series

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
I gave this an overall 5 stars. I was tempted to take a star off for being so short. The thing is, the story does such a good job of pulling you in that a 3~ hour story feels much longer. I thoroughly enjoyed the reactions from the MC as well as the inner dialogue. Both of these came across as realistic, not to mention quite funny at times. Let us not forget the narrator! Matthew does a fine job of voicing the different characters and (I'm no expert but..) does a great job with all of the different languages. Enjoyed the book and look forward to finishing the series!
