About this listen

The Real Truth About Living a Minimalist Lifestyle

The popularity of minimalism has grown a lot in the past years. Long before the emergence of flat design, minimalism has been playing a huge role in many people's lives. This includes the designs of many artists: sculptors, theater directors, interior designers, graphic designers, and, of course, web designers.

A minimalist is someone who strives to remove much of the clutter from their lives and focus on life outside of physical possessions. The ultimate goal is to shed those things that don't matter in order to more fully pursue the things that DO matter. This can certainly manifest itself in many different ways, and every minimalist has their own story. Some take it way further than others.

The Secrets of Minimalism

While simplicity is the end goal of minimalism, there are ton of pros to becoming a minimalist, but as with everything we encounter in life, there are also drawbacks. It is very important to consider the valid pros and cons of minimalism before becoming a minimalist.

In this guide we will explore the upside and the downside of minimalism. We will find out common problems that a lot of minimalists have to face and discover how minimalism can have a huge negative impact on society.

Here are some of topics we will discuss:

  • Balancing materialism and minimalism
  • Pros and cons of becoming a minimalist
  • How minimalism can be toxic to businesses
  • Society's view of minimalism

For those born and raised in the height of our consumer society, this guide would be perfect for you. This guide is all about rethinking our attitudes toward ownership, our lifestyles, and our innermost values. The goal of this guide is to show every aspect of minimalism, so we can decide if minimalism is something we should integrate into our everyday lives.

Keep your money

The author took 2 hours to say what she could have said in a short magazine article. In short, don't be a haughty minimalist. Keep what makes you happy. Let the rest go.

so judgemental

What would have made Minimalism better?

I'm so into minimalism that it kind of hurts sometimes. I just can't get enough. Then I started listening to this book...OMG. I clicked it off. I do not share the Author's beliefs, which strike me as limiting rather than expanding.
