About this listen
Midst of My Confusion tells the story of a violent and defiant Chicano whose reality in the barrio is intensely brutal. The main character is Joaquin, a young vato who has lived his entire life in the barrio of his small town. But the peace of a small town is short-lived. Fights occur everywhere, so Joaquin and friends he's grown up with all bond together for protection - a gang. His destiny changes during a business trip to Mexico City. Joaquin encounters the effects of exploitation and marginalization of a people, and the forces that struggle to resist. He finds Zapatismo and quickly understands the struggle of Mexicans who fight for human rights and services. He wonders why he never knew about Chiapas. He wonders if he can still do right in his life.
This realistic novel is one of possibilities, of reality as it pulls you into the life of the barrio, the life of a drug trafficker, and the life of a REVOLUTIONARY.

Story
Many new believers come to the feet of Christ broken and shattered. They join a church or a group and rejoice in their new relationship with Jesus. Over time, as they learn about God, the distance becomes further and further away from the Lord. This causes confusion and eventually alienation. This is due to the fact that denominations and churches across the world do an amazing job of teaching us who God is, but never bother to teach the believer who they truly are in Christ. This book will set you free as we put into perspective our true identity in Christ.

Story
Two victims of the infamous Cleveland kidnapper share the story of their abductions, their decade in captivity, and their final, dramatic rescue. On May 6, 2013, Amanda Berry made headlines around the world when she fled a Cleveland area home and called 911, saying: “Help me, I’m Amanda Berry...I’ve been kidnapped, and I’ve been missing for 10 years". A horrifying story rapidly unfolded. Ariel Castro, a local school bus driver, had separately lured Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight to his home, where he kept them chained in the basement.

Born to indigenous working-class Mexican immigrants in San Diego in the 1970s, Jesse Leon’s childhood was violently ruptured. A dangerous and harrowing encounter at a local gift shop when he was eleven years old left Jesse with a deadly secret. Hurt, alone, and scared for his life, Jesse numbed his pain by losing himself in the hyper-masculine culture of the streets and wherever else he could find it—in alcohol, drugs, and prostitution.

Story
The anti-busing riots of 1974 forever changed Southie, Boston's working-class Irish community, branding it as a violent, racist enclave. Michael Patrick MacDonald grew up in Southie's Old Colony housing project. He describes the way this world within a world felt to the troubled yet keenly gifted observer he was even as a child. But the threats - poverty, drugs, a shadowy gangster world - were real. All Souls is heartbreaking testimony to lives lost too early, and the story of how a place so filled with pain could still be "the best place in the world".

Rollercoaster ride not for the faint of heart!
I know the author is Christian with a previously rough background, so I was curious to see where it would go? I learned a little about LA gang culture when I took a class on prisons, so anything that touches on the subject is very interesting to me & this novel highlights the trainwreck of a strong familial culture vs. the ruthless/senseless territorialism of gangs/organized crime. Features no-holds-barred violence, but no cuss words, or explicit sex, so it's passable family friendly as long as you're OK with extreme action. I also loved the history lessons along the way - you can never learn too much history, amen? The novel is a morality tale minus the preaching, so non-Christians need not fear reading it.

Outstanding!
I grew up in Latino communities in Washington state, though this story is fictional! I can say this story is very true as to what goes on in Chicano neiborhoods like David Roacha said the answers to freedom is Found is Jesus Christ! I enjoyed this story very much! Thanks David for another great story I hope to hear more soon! God bless in Jesus name
