Publisher's summary

Scheming pirates. Reveling mermaids. When murder crashes the party, can one witch dredge up the killer?

Imogen’s personal spellcraft lessons with Prince Hank have sparked a different type of magic between them. So when she’s invited to bake for the mermaid queen’s lavish wedding, she hopes the underwater ceremony will help cool off their growing attraction. But between the temptations of the sea-cave nightlife and the discovery of a murdered royal court member, her emotions are rising higher than the tide.

When one of her signature treats is found in the dead mermaid’s gills, she’ll have to stow her feelings and wade through the clues to clear her name. But surrounded by hard-partying revelers, a scandalous royal court, and a shipload of pirates, the twisted truth may be more elusive than sunken treasure.

With rough waters closing in, can Imogen catch the real killer before she has to walk the plank?

Mermaid Fins, Winds & Rolling Pins is the third book in the Spells & Caramels paranormal cozy mystery series. If you like underwater kingdoms, magical mysteries, and a splash of romance, then you’ll love Erin Johnson’s deep-sea whodunit.

Sound Editing Bad

Chapter 6 has a plethora of repeat edits. It's just a bit disconcerting. Makes me question my sanity....or maybe I'm in The Matrix Movie.....

off to the Water Kingdom

The narrator/reader Hannah Somerville brings this to life. I love the sound effects & different voices and accents. She enhances the author’s work.

The gang from the Water Kingdom (Maple, Imogen, Iggy & et al. travels to the Mermaid Kingdom to make the pastries and such for the wedding of the Mermaid Queen (Winnie) to the Pirate King (Chuck). To do this, Imogen Banks and the others have to transform into merpeople to be able to get around their world since most of it is under water. It is a new twist for Imogen, as she is still getting used to having magical powers. While there a mermaid, Bubbles – the queen’s BFF, is murdered and Imogen becomes embroiled in solving the crime.

I did not know who killed Bubbles until it was revealed.

There are some interesting twists and turns in this installment. We learn more about Maple, Wiley and a few others. I found it interesting the twists in Imogen and Hank's attraction to each other. I’m not sure I like the way Imogen & Hank settle their attraction to each other. I know the arranged marriage is political but I am torn but can understand.

Imogen talks to her adoptive mother, Nancy. We learn a lot but I won’t spoil it, here.

You are going to LOVE the mermaids!

Sea Snakes, Erin Johnson has ruined me for any other "cozy" books because I only want to read/listen and enjoy hers. Delightful and smart. Great performance! She captures the characters better then I imagined them.

Magic Under the Sea

This was an sweet and seaful continuation of the series! Imogen goes to the Mermaid Kingdom to bake for the Queen’s engagement party, but as usual, things go wrong and someone turns belly up. Between clubbing, smuggling, secrets, a pirate scandal, and emotions running high and wild, Imogen and her crew are in for another crazy mystery. I liked that the heat level slightly increased in this book and romance had a larger role than the previous books. Hank and Imogen’s relationship continues to grow and so does her control over her powers. Some of her biological past comes to light and we get to learn some more about her witch heritage. The mermaids weren’t your typical ones you’d find in other books- they live to drink, flirt, and party. Erin continues to blow me away with her world building, characters, and creatures.
Hannah did another great job with this narration! I love the different voices that she gives each character and how she can bring the magic, sweets, and story to life.

Amazing Listen

Another amazing book by Erin Johnson, read by Hannah Somerville. The story is exciting, engaging and easy to listen to story. Hannah does an amazing job with the character voices and making it easy to get lost in the story.
