Publisher's summary

'I can understand myself only in the light of inner happenings. It is these that make up the singularity of my life, and with these my autobiography deals' (Carl Gustav Jung)

In 1957, four years before his death, Carl Gustav Jung, psychiatrist and psychologist, began writing his life story. But what started as an exercise in autobiography soon morphed into an altogether more profound undertaking. The result is an absorbing piece of self-analysis: a frank statement of faith, philosophy, and principles from one of the great explorers of the human mind.

Covering everything from Sigmund Freud, analytical psychology, and Jungian dream interpretation to a forthright discussion of world myths and religions, including Christianity, Buddhism, and other religions, these final reflections on an extraordinary life are a fitting coda to the work of Carl Gustav Jung. It was Jung who observed and named key human characteristics such as the introvert, the extrovert, the animus, the anima, and other concepts such as archetypes (the wise old man, the mother), the collective unconscious, the complex and many more.

His studies took him into many fields—religion, anthropology, archeology and literature—which instructed his clinical work. This extraordinary breadth gave him a view of humanity and of culture that still resonates deeply.

Memories, Dreams, Reflections is a remarkable document showing a man of great depth, humility, and perspicacity. Once read, it is never forgotten.

Aniela Jaffé's introduction is read by Elizabeth Proud.

"Jung's single-minded humility, his passion to unearth truth, is one of the loveliest impressions to emerge from this absorbing and many-sided book." (The Times)

Easy through and through

The performance is greatly captivating; it carried me through long walks and driving to work, seating in contemplation or resting my eyes. It has an easy to follow pace making the context easy to absorb. As far as the book itself goes, the wealth of knowledge contained is innumerable. I am truly glad to have acquired so many insights, so many ideas. Having just finished I feel content and a little excited but also a bit sad. What I have gained I will carry it forward for better and for worse.

Stellar. Positive, Life Changing

So many topics fearlessly gone over and plunged into with the purpose of uncovering the truth. Jung is a visionary and intelligent truth seeker. He is odd and curious but humble and faie in his judgements over himself and life.

This book is for those unafraid of what is real and looking for deeper meaning in all things. For those who are smart and curious and different but dont fit in with the regular crowd.

Jung is here to guide you to a healthier happier stabler, more illuminated state of mental health and being. Fantastic work. Shut your mouth and open your mind. All will be well.

Even more than I anticipated

I found so much depth in this text. I rewound my life journey tape and reviewed a plethora of moments. I came out of the text a better, more aware, and more informed version of myself, that is all I can ask. This was my second Jung and I already have my third ready, though I have started Dostoevsky's The Devils now.

I loved the contents very much, but the piecing together of audio clips was horrible.

Seminal work.. Jung is one of a kind.. a must read

it is indeed a brilliant work. a must read for anyone pursuing the path of self-discovery, a relentless search... Jung is rarest among rare for having been endowed with a natural quality to observe and read the innerspace. I found many insights... affirmations of my own understanding and many new openings.

I must say that it requires commitment and patience to go through this work. on many occasions, I had to listen to portions again and again to get to an understanding of what Jung is saying.

In some ways, the story and narration flows seamlessly between the objective reality and the inner realm. so much so, like Jung, you may experience a surprise.. of wonder and doubt as to whether it is flowing in the objective reality or in the dreamscapes of the unconscious.

Eye opening and soul searching

I had to relisten to certain parts again and again, but even something as "simple" as a Biography of Jung requires your full attention at times. No fault of the narrator, who did a wonderful job. It's just really that heavy of material.

Jung asked many of the same questions I did about God, reality, and unconcious feelings. Questions I didn't know others were asking. Questions I had asked as a child, just as he did. It was extremely moving to relive that strife I had as a child, and find another way to understand it...to come to peace with it.

Great reader for Jung

This audio book is well performed and enjoyable to the ear. Thank you.
Jung, telling his stories is so lovely.
But, it must be stated that he is a man of his time, and the sections about Africa and India are not of our own— hopefully. Quite racist. Not attempting to take away from his POV. Many parts are exquisite. But, I cannot overlook and ignore. Human.

Bulb of the tulip speaking

This opened me to a spiritual awareness of others and better understanding myself. I enjoyed the narrator and thought he added essential poise to difficult subject matter.
