About this listen

Tragedy strikes on the opening night of the Fall Crafters Fair when a woman is killed in the parking lot of Daisy's Quilt Shop and the only material witness is one of Melinda Byer's boys. The investigation takes a more bizarre turn when detective Shane Black becomes convinced the killer was actually after Callie.

This time it's a madman loose in the largest crowd of the year, and he's looking for something or someone. If they can't figure out what - or who - one of Deborah and Callie's close circle of friends may be next.

Masked identities, antique quilts with hidden messages, an Amish boy whose handicap makes him stronger, one brave dog, and a possible hidden treasure make for nonstop action, danger, and a dash of romance.

Excellent as usual

However the ending is unsatisfactory. There is no completion. It simply stops and leaves the reader hanging. Most unsatisfactory conclusion to an otherwise excellent book. Too bad.

listening to this gives one faith in all that is good. people are more than individuals. their lives are the sum of everything that happens to them and occurs between them. Their lives are deeply connected. all of ours should be.

Community, Courage, Crafters and a Canine

This third and last in the Shipshewana Amish Mysteries is a great conclusion to the series, although I really wish it wasn’t the last one. These stories are SO engaging and full of interesting asides, in addition to the murder mysteries. I respect and admire the Amish, and the blending of Amish and English as friends in this series is most heartwarming. The portrayal of the Amish as flawed and human folks, as we all are, is also very refreshing. Since the first book, when Callie came to Shipshewana to Daisy’s Quilt Shop which was left to her by her aunt, the group of quilters who meet in the shop have grown so much closer and learned how to love and support one another in numerable ways. Not to mention that they have solved a couple of murders together. The sweet families that have special needs, which have been supported by the on line sales which Callie was instrumental in setting up, have a place in my heart. Learning more about “chicken breast disease” and Melinda’s family, including her kids and “The Swap”, was one of the best parts. Amish kids are not that different than Englishers. The murder of Callie’s rival quilt shop owner outside Daisy’s Quilt Shop during one of the busiest times of the year, makes for one of Callie’s worst nightmares. Don’t miss this one! It’s probably the best in the series.
