About this listen
Amazon best-selling author brings you Marrying Mr. Valentine!
Nadine Roberts smiles for everyone, but beneath it, she hides a heartbreaking past that few know about. Throwing herself into her new career as wedding planner at The Duck & Goose, a property recently purchased by newlyweds Florence and Hugh, has helped distract her from her loneliness.
When a teary bride suddenly cancels her upcoming wedding, Nadine looks to the two-year waiting list. Clara Blumenkrantz and Hartley Valentine. It’ll have to be a quick turnaround, but what’s the worst that can happen, right?
This should be like every other wedding she plans, but the magnetism she feels toward Mr. Valentine disrupts the orderly life she’s worked hard to carve out.
Can she ignore her intense desires and be a professional?
Or will she open up her heart to the one person that has the power to break it? And in doing so, endanger not just her job but her venue’s reputation?

Story
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Kira Murphy is a liability, always has been. She might be small, but her personality and heart are not: A sexual health doctor with a foul mouth, pink streaks in her hair, a bizarre worldview, a reputation for being "pathologically social", and a huge crush on the current minister of state for business, energy, and clean growth, she’s weird and lovable in equal measure.

Made me laugh out loud!
This is the funniest, spicy romance book that I have heard in a long time! The characters are so realistic. I found myself laughing out loud at the dialogue as I could hear my girlfriends and I having the same conversations. Highly recommend this book!

Endearing
I liked this contemporary romance. Nadine endured devastating loss emotionally crippling her to pursue love and happiness. Her meeting Hartley opened her eyes and heart to possibility.
Narrator Ms. Kaye did a fabulous job of voicing the characters.

I was expecting wild and crazy and got some real heart tuggers too. I empathized with Hartley, but wish he'd would have manned up sooner- like weeks ago!!! Clara was an awful person before thst last tidbit of info came out at
her wedding! Pot calling the kettle black . Great ending. The narrator did a good job.

What a rollercoaster of emotions
This story was a bunch of emotions for me.
The characters (main and secondary) and the plotlines of the story really were really good, and entertaining.
One thing in this story is that pregnancy, even talking about some of the hard topics, is a recurring theme of the story, so if you are not a fan than this is not the story for you.
One thing that was odd was that there was a reference to high school early in the story, when later talking about the school system, talking about secondary. I am fairly unfamiliar with the British school system, and even I know high school is not a term they use.
Sometimes, the plot could be seen a mile away, but I really enjoyed it anyway.
The narrator was excellent, and it felt like I could totally understand Nadine as how she felt her emotions, and thoughts.
This is the second book in the series, but I never felt like I was missing out any information by not reading the first.
Overall, 4 stars.

fun and sexy
This narrator was a perfect fit for this story. I really do love that Laura's heroines are always very real people who arent perfect but just regular women living their lives.
I found Hartley just as Divine as Nadine does. the ups and downs of the relationship as well as Nadines heartbreak with her former lover mad this feel real and I celebrated the end as I would with any close friend.

The Wedding Planner
While it has been a long time since I saw the 2001 movie The Wedding Planner, this novel follows the sentiment; falling for the groom. Nadine's life seems to follow Murphy's Law in a humerus and easy going way. She is a woman with a heart of gold and good intentions with some serious losses in her past, making her jaded.
The narrator did an excellent job with all the character voices and while this was a first for me, I will certainly look for more books narrated by her.
Trigger warning: this book does deal with a baby being born a sleeping angel and the mothers grief after a few years.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am proving my honest review voluntarily.

Very cute and romantic!
This is a very cute romance! Nadine meets Hartley—the groom of one of her wedding planning clients—and hilarious sparks fly! Some of the humor is kinda gross and not for the faint of stomach. Tara-Louise Kaye kills it as a narrator!! Awesomely good! This audiobook was gifted in exchange for an honest review.
