About this listen

From award-winning author, Sherry V. Ostroff, comes the historical novel, Mannahatta, the sequel to Caledonia.

Abandoning the ship was risky. It meant Anna never returning to Scotland and reuniting with her daughter. Instead, Anna and her highlander, Alain MacArthur, faced an uncertain future in colonial Manhattan, where they knew no one, except for an old adversary seeking revenge.

Anna’s story would have remained unknown if it were not for Hanna Duncan’s dogged pursuit of the truth about her ancient ancestor. But first, her journey will take Hanna and the man she loves through the Central American jungle, infiltrated by blood-thirsty gangs; the Scottish Highlands and a scheming family; and the glass and steel canyonlands of New York City.

Mannahatta continues the story of these two strong women living 300 years apart. They are bound by mysterious circumstances that slowly unravel an unexpected connection.

Fascinating Story & Enchanting Narrator

Sherry V. Ostroff knows how to tell a great story. She reels the reader in from the first page and doesn’t let you go until the end—when I’m usually sad that the book is not longer. Listening to Mannahatta being read is almost as much fun as reading it. With her lilting Scottish accent, Savanna Sinéad Kenny brings to life the characters and situations Ostroff has researched and engages the reader with. So many fascinating details! A great read OR listen! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Thrilled to Listen ToThis Book

Ms. Ostroff knows how to write wonderful historical romances based on facts. I was thrilled to find out what happened to the McCarther, Alec and Hannah. As with the first book I wish I could rate this book with ten stars. I knew life was tough for immigrants coming the America's, but what Iain and Anna endured was brutal. Anna was able to connect with the Jewish community in Manhattan. The small knit group aided one another. Anna being a Jewish and Iain a Catholic they faced more obstacles. The love they shared was unbreakable. As for present time characters Hannah and Alec I worried they would not have a HEA. I was ticked off with Hannah because of her putting off marriage and Alec had to keep waiting. I highly recommend this series!!

Loved this series!

This Author is excellent! I really enjoyed her 2 books. I was very interested in the historical parts and her attention to details was very good! The story has great characters and the storyline is intriguing. The Narration is very good, as well and it makes for a fun listen. Kudos to both of them! ♥️

Just Wow

This was such an excellent book, I loved it! I so favor historical love stories I would say this tops the list. I enjoyed book one and had to jump right into book two. The story jumps from present day to back when Manhattan was just getting started with two love stories, and some really rotten people in both. The historical parts of the story were so intriguing I never stopped listening. Like I said just wow!

Wonderful sequel

I had read Caledonia twice and was looking forward to seeing what became of Hannah and Alex and Anna and Alain. I enjoy the back and forth between the lives taking place some 300 years apart. It makes me want to dig into my family tree! The connections between the characters were meaningful and the historical background really interesting! I highly recommend if you enjoy historical fiction/romance and while you can read this as a stand alone, as the author does a good job giving just enough background to understand references to the first book, you’ll get so much more out of reading both Caledonia and Mannahatta.

a nice mixture of genealogy and history

I really enjoyed the first novel by Sherry Ostroff; Caledonia, so was excited to listen to the 2nd in this series. Two of my favorite things are reading historical novels and studying genealogy so this book was right up my alley. I would recommend this series as it is engaging and the two main characters are well developed and relatable. The narrator did a fine job and has a beautiful, rich voice, perfect for the characters she portrays. Will this be a continuing series? I hope so!
