Earphones Award Winner (AudioFile Magazine)

Audie Award Finalist, Mystery, 2016

From the New York Times best-selling author of Queen of Hearts comes another mystery for "fans of P. G. Wodehouse looking for laughs mingled with some amateur sleuthing" (Publishers Weekly).

Lady Georgiana Rannoch won't deny that being 35th in line for the British throne has its advantages. Unfortunately money isn't one of them. And sometimes making ends meet requires her to investigate a little royal wrongdoing.

While my beau, Darcy, is off on a mysterious mission, I am once again caught between my high birth and empty purse. I am therefore relieved to receive a new assignment from the queen - especially one that includes lodging. The king's youngest son, George, is to wed Princess Marina of Greece, and I shall be her companion at the supposedly haunted Kensington Palace. My duties are simple: help Marina acclimate to English life, show her the best of London, and, above all, dispel any rumors about George's libertine history. Perhaps that last bit isn't so simple. George is known for his many affairs with women as well as men - including the great songwriter Noel Coward. But things truly get complicated when I search the palace for a supposed ghost only to encounter an actual dead person: a society beauty said to have been one of Prince George's mistresses. Nothing spoils a royal wedding more than murder, and the queen wants the whole matter hushed. But as the investigation unfolds - and Darcy, as always, turns up in the most unlikely of places - the investigation brings us precariously close to the prince himself.

Critic reviews

"Both historical and fictional characters are brought to life through Kellgren's effusive reading of sparkling dialogue and humorous scenes. The escapades within the halls of Kensington Palace, and other royal residences and gambling establishments, as described by the lively Georgie are splendidly enhanced in this audio." ( AudioFile)

If you love the series, you will love Malice

If you could sum up Malice at the Palace in three words, what would they be?

Not sure that is possible.

Rollicking good fun? That will do.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that certain parts of the story are moving forward well. I loved the new Great Aunts - would definitely enjoy more from them.
I thought the background story in this one was very solid.

Have you listened to any of Katherine Kellgren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ms. Kellgren was spot on for this series, as always.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The Woman in curls, the boy and the last two minutes!

Any additional comments?

I love this series, but sometimes feel like it is the proverbial rabbit that never gets any Trix. For heaven's sake...just a little solution to help them along please! Oh, and less Queenie.

Light Entertainment

This series of books is about Lady Georgina, her man Darcy, and the odd murders that turn up wherever Georgie happens to be. The stories and the murders are original and very enjoyable. The books are a lot of fun even though they are set in the depression era.

The narrator does an excellent job with most characters but some are very irritating. Sometimes the narrator screeches. However, I am going back for more!0

This book is a fun listen and I enjoyed it very much. I also enjoyed all of the previous books. I am now going to Audible to get the next book in the series.

Fantastic!

This author has guts! She took on the abortion issue without getting mired in the pro-life/pro-choice debate. She focused on the women and how each decision is difficult, even dangerous and how much each of them had to lose. I have truly enjoyed this series and suggest you try it. You'll fall in love with this story, the characters, and find yourself thinking about the issues the author delves into in each book. GET THIS. You won't regret it.

Simply Delightful!

Not much more I can add to that, but Georgie fans will agree with my simple review I am sure!

Katherine Kellgren is an outstanding narrator. Don’t they give Grammy awards for recorded voices? She definitely deserves one!

Great story

I love that the novel is based on true events. Queenie's character was annoying, if she were my maid i would pay her to go away.
Love this author and plan to read more of her work!

Love, love, love these books and this narrator!

Delightful characters and fun plots. Narrator is the best female narrator I've ever listened to. I highly recommend this whole series!
