About this listen

Made in her image. Made from magic. Made to conquer. Made to rule.

Fifteen years ago, my father earned a life sentence for illegal dark magic experimentation. His test subject? Me. I’ve spent every day since training to control the rare lightning magic he unlocked. I swore to use this gift to protect all Elemental Witches from similar torture. Now he’s escaped and Dark Magic Covens are threatening the safety of the Kingdom of Magic.

This reconnaissance mission should be a piece of cake. Lead an elite team to spy on one of the known covens. If only it didn’t also happen to include a certain prince with certain off-limits chemistry.... It should be a simple mission, but why do I feel like it could destroy everything I know about my Kingdom and my Magic?

Made from Magic is a new adult urban fantasy featuring a strong female protagonist who knows she’s the sh*t, and a male love interest who would literally burn the world for her. Contains adult situations including violence and spicy romance—not in the same chapter...for the most part. Great for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash. Ages 18+.

Annoying

To be honest, I was rather annoyed while listening to this book.

Positives: The story itself (outside of the romance) was good. Katie was a complete badass. Also got a lot of Harry Potter vibes.

Negatives: The narrators voice for Prince Asher pretty much ruined the romance between Katie and Asher for me. He came off as immature and whiny. They were suppose to have this intense relationship, but I just could not believe it because of the voice. Also, I was annoyed by the random, brief appearance of the sexy mysterious werewolf, giving off serious fated mates vibe with Katie. Only for his presence to be completely forgotten about and not mentioned once he disappeared into the woods and Katie continues with her “intense” relationship with Prince Asher.

I’m sure there is more development in the next book, but to be honest, I won’t be continuing the series, at least definitely not through Audible with this narrator.

Great story horrible narration

The story is wonderful and I can’t wait to get to the next but the narration was awful. She has a very monotone voice that makes it hard to enjoy the story as well as not being very good at changing tones for each character.

Sexy magic for the win!

This is book one so there is obviously build up and back story but it was actually some pretty damn vividly captivating build up and back story! I found it refreshing to have witty and provocative behavior from a female lead!
Also, the myth. creatures arent some chessy garbage either I seriously can't wait to learn more about them!!
I am also looking forward to see how she overcomes so many different struggles in the future!
I could def go on but I dont want to spoil anything for anyone!
In short, It's a fun/spicy read that takes you to a place you can see behind your eyes while you read!
I'm looking forward to book 2 ill have to dream of endings until then ;)

Great Story, meh narrator... *Mild Spoilers

OK, so the story is amazing. I really liked it. however the narrator was soooo boring to listen too. And the voice they used for the prince made me cringe everytime. I really hope the next book explores that mysterious werewolf a bit more. I'm getting some fated mates vibes from that guy but we shall see... and also fuck that prince guy. After his little tantrum in the woods I decided I didn't like him at all. I'm feeling like he's gonna be a Tamlin-like character in the future. I'm excited to see where this book goes :)

Loved it!

I loved this story and can’t wait for the next one!! Reason for 4 stars on performance was there were awkward pauses in the read. Other than that I loved that the book didn’t have too much fluff and got to the point! When decisions need to be made there wasn’t any question about if they would do it they just did it! Would 100% recommend you listen!

Just no. What a pain to listen to.

The narration for this book was super painful to listen to. When she was narrating the main protagonist it wasn’t as bad (which not saying much) but just gets worse and worse the more I listen. Which is a feat since most of the time I get used ti bad narrations but there are some I just cringe the more it goes on. This narrator almost sounded monotone but had cringy random pauses that completely takes you out of the story. Each sentence was a paragraph and was under 10 words so the more I listened the more those irritating pauses stood. They when she was narrating some of the other women she made them squeal at random times bruising my eardrums. Then you have the Prince and omg I just couldn’t do it. I don’t know if it was fully the narrators fault (which could totally be with that terrible British accent) or if this is how he was written but he sounded like a pretentious moron.

I gave it a full stop at the subtle sl*tshaming going on with everyone in the MC’s orbit. Especially her mother. I mean how gross is it to have the mom scold her fully grown daughter of who she sleeps with? I thought I was going to love this book with the way it starts off with. The MC has a ONS and was a complete baddie for kicking him out. Like hell YES! A women who knows what she wants and none of the blushing good girl act like we get in every other book I’ve been reading! Then it just all felt gross how everyone treated her for it. Like does the guy also get scolded? Probably not. The MC then later catches 2 guys playing with her underwear in the next scene which is just gross. But the MC was just like “haha guys will be guys!” And tells them to leave (also didn’t like that they pretty much made it sound like they don’t listen to no women when she requested they leave even though she is High Command!). This is not the last the MC’s own mother sl*tshames her. She literally keeps telling her daughter not to open her legs JUST THIS ONCE to the prince before she leaves and every interaction with him before they leave her mother is in the background giving the “I AM WATCHING YOU DO NOT SLEEP WITH HIM AND DEFILE HIS INNOCENCE WITH YOUR W**RENESS!”. She literally told her daughter that she is not innocent and to not ruin the Prince! It’s just so gross. In chapter 7 she’s doing her first training with the Prince (gawd that terrible accent!) and he asks her if she wants to stay for lunch and our w**re of an MC was hesitant to GO ON LUNCH BECAUSE OF WHAT HER MOM SAID EARLIER like she’s scared she’ll trip and fall on the princes di**?!

Made it to Chapter 9 before I just couldn’t take it anymore.
