About this listen

No mission had ever gotten the better of Navy SEAL Zane Mackenzie...until now. Barrie Lovejoy needed a savior, before the terrorist group holding her hostage lost patience and silenced her forever. Rescuing Barrie would be the most important mission of his life. For he would sooner die than let the enemy harm the mother of his child.©1996 Linda Howard (P)2006 Audible, Inc.

What can I say. I love this family from start to finish. Zane's story lives up to the family's heritage. Zane is strong, honorable, sexy and thankfully persistent. Barrie is a good match for him in every way.

Note: all the stories in this series are able to stand on their own. As the family is the center of the series if you start at the beginning, the story is enriched with the history of which it all flows

Highly recommend.

Excellent

The story is suspenseful, erotic, and unexpected. Great mix in a story. The production is also very well done. Lots of twists and turns to keep things interesting.
Enjoy!

🤷🏻‍♀️ not really sure what to say here

I’ve read this story more than once myself, but this is the first time I’ve listened to it. I had a hard time deciding on how many stars to give the narration. His voice wasn’t unpleasant, but he basically just read the book. I couldn’t tell any difference between the various characters’ voices. There was no obvious emotion when emotion was strongly expected by the wording in the story. I guess I’m used to listening to voice actors in my audiobooks. This won’t go on my re-listen list.

My first Mackenzie story!

This was my first MacKenzie story and it was just great. I will probably read other books in the series if they are all as enjoyable as this one.
This is Zane's story. Due to an accident during practice Zane's squad is down two SEALS, which means the commander has to go in with his team to rescue Barrie who has been kidnapped by Lybians. During the escape Zane is shot and Barrie is taken away by her Ambassador father's men, separating her from Zane as he was taken away for surgery.
Months later after being stymied by her father, and Zane is finally well enough the couple are finally reunited.
Barrie and Zane both realize the kidnapping doesn't add up, there was never a ransom demand made. Without giving the rest of the story away, lets just say the action and love making was fantastic. A worthwhile read. Enjoy!

Narrator was pretty good, he is a skillful reader.

loved this book

Mackenzie's Pleasure was a great book I liked Mackenzie's mountain but this was different much more on the edge of your seat , a good suspense and love story that kept me coming back for more, I liked the high paced speed and a good amount of romance,
If you liked Mackenzie's mountain than you will love this one I hope that Audible gets all five books from the series because I cant get enough of this series and I hope that you love it to
Have a great read

Excellent short espionage/rescue thriller romance

This short little listen (6+ hr) was engrossing, realistic, and well balanced. A book this short doesn't allow too much character development, but one is left really liking the characters and the action. The rescue and espionage element is balanced with relationship building. I'm glad I ignored other comments about there being too much sex in this book. Its placement was unusual perhaps, but with only two scenes, it's 9/10ths action. It isn't unlike the opening sequence of Navy Seals the movie. I had recently listened to Mackenzie's Mission and was not impressed. That too was a short book, but this one I enjoyed much more. It was striking afterward to note the 1990s copyright date. I enjoyed the family dynamics enough to order a hard copy of Mackenzie's Mountain since its not on audio, and buy audible versions of two other linda howard books.
This is a very pleasurable read and I recommend it. I would give it 4.2.

love every minute

this is one of my favorite books, I've listened to this book so many times I have lost count. It is a great story. I only wish the author would do the story of Chance on tape.

I enjoyed the adorable epilogue the most. Very cute. The romance between Zane and Barry (weird for a girl's name) was like rocket speed. But it was entertaining.

Another great one by Linda Howard

These Mackenzie books are such hot & sexy romances. The men are all alphas & the females are very independent. They keep the men on their toes.

Entertaining book in series!

The MacKenzie's Mountain series has been a great one and this book adds to it! The hero Zane is a Navy Seal sent to rescue a kidnapped ambassadors daughter in Libya. During the rescue they develop a relationship and then are abruptly separated after he's shot during the rescue. Months go by and the heroine Barrie finds out she's pregnant, but no one will let her know how to reach him. There's a bit of suspense going on in the story also and the romance is hot and sweet. Narration was well done.
