Wonderful, Succinct Luther!

For anyone who wants a basic understanding of Luther, traditional Biblical Lutheran teaching, and why TRUE Lutheran Christians (not ELCA) believe as we believe with the comfort of the Gospel, then this is an excellent primer.

Loved it... but

it was a very good book but it was a very fast paced and I had to re-listen to a lot of parts of it. But aside from that a very good book.

A gem and treasure!

In an efficient fashion the author portrays well what a gift from God Luther was and still is. Written with the layman in mind, but a joy for pastors too. The author is expertly familiar with Luther and his theology. The book is a gem, highlighting how by God’s grace Martin Luther rightly divided the Word of God and was able to discover and maintain the pure Gospel of Christ Jesus in the face of personal and external opposition. It's a welcomed reminder for pastors how we should wrestle with God's Word in order to preach and apply God's Law and Gospel rightly. It's also a healthy reminder to laymen how they should listen, discern, and receive or reject what is preached. The audio version is read expertly as well! Many thanks to both the author and reader! I imagine a lifetime of effort made this book possible.

A must read to understand Christianity!

Understanding Luther and his life, struggles, and biblical discoveries helps us understand what biblical Christianity....saved by grace alone, by Faith alone, in Christ alone, based upon Scripture alone Christianity...really is!

Luther's Life and Teaching for the Curious

A great book for gaining an introduction into who Luther was and what he taught. Simon Vance does a superb job narrating, as he always does.

Enjoyable Audiobook on Luther

Voice artist, Simon Vance, gives another excellent performance in this audio book. Great summary of Martin Luther's theology with bits of his personal thoughts and biographical info throughout. I enjoyed this book the most from the Armchair series.

A disappointment

Disappointing compared to other titles in the Armchair Theologian series. The other books in the series explain the historical events that drove the thinking behind the subject matter - The Reformation, St Augustine, etc. This book has very little historical context and instead a regurgitation of the teachings of Luther.
