Delightful Short Stories for Comfort Reading
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Growing up I fell in love with Anne of Green Gables, particularly the Kevin Sullivan adaptions. I have never ventured outside Avonlea to try an of Montgomery's other writings - until now.
Though she was still a novice fresh out of college, her trademark charm, wit and a heart full of romance is evident in this collection of short stories. I was amazed by how deftly she could introduce a few characters, a setting and set up the dilemma, a twist and most often a joyful conclusion is such nice, tidy packages. Not that all the stories were romances - but getting to see her flex other literary muscles was every bit as enjoyable. Expect laughter, sighs, and a few tears along the way. It is perfect for reading a little here and there or just enjoying all in a single sitting.
P. J. Morgan does a wonderful job populating there tales with character, her own dose of charm and navigating a variety of different speech patterns. She is pleasant to listen to and I look forward to other books by her.

The Innocent Age
Lucy Maud Montgomery Short Stories 1896-1901 audiobook
Author Lucy Maud Montgomery
Narrator: P J Morgan
This is a review for the audiobook version of this book!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, through Audiobook Boom, and have voluntarily left this honest review.
I always like to preface any reviews I give with this information.
I am a 68 year old female who has been an avid reader since I was around 10 or 11 years old.
I also want to add this as it may be pertinent to the kinds of reviews I give.
The first books I read were the Nancy Drew mystery novels by "Carolyn Keene."
Carolyn Keene is a pen name used by a variety of authors for the classic Nancy Drew mystery series. The first author to use the pseudonym was Mildred Wirt Benson, who wrote 23 of the original 30 books
Source Text: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/authors/36706/carolyn-keene/.
I then proceeded to ingest everything that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had written, then I moved on to Agatha Christie mysteries. By the time I hit the age of 15, I was into science fiction and there were new horizons and worlds to explore through reading. As I matured I branched out into many different genres of books but Mystery and Science Fiction are still among my favorite reads.
I read mainly for entertainment purposes although I do a lot of research in areas of personal interest.
I have a great interest in many things. Ancient History and Archeology are at the top of a very long list.
Review:
This is a selection of 20 stories from author Lucy Maud Montgomery who is primarily known for her "Anne of Green Gables" books.
For some reason this author is one I never had experience with reading as a child growing up, nor have I seen the movies either.
This is my first experience with her writing.
I found most of these little stories to be charming and genteel, on the melodramatic side, and unrealistic for those of us in this century. I did enjoy listening to them and I always try to consider the era a book is written during, the writing style of that day; and the technology of the times as well.
Ms Montgomery's style of writing does not appeal to me personally and I will not be reading any more of her stories.
Narrator P. J. Morgan did a wonderful narration of these stories and she has a charming, vivacious style of narration. I really enjoyed her accents and voices.
Listening to her kept me interested in hearing all the stories in this selection and I will be looking for more audiobooks by this voice actress.

Nice compilation
I have previously read everything about Anna Green Gables. This is the first I’ve read/listened to short stories by this author. I will admit I have not listen to all of the stories as of yet, but I am making my review now. I like the fact these books have been put into a compilation.
This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( JP Morgan ). She has a comfortable style but it’s more narration than voice acting. It makes listening enjoyable, but I was always aware I was being read to instead of being swept away into the book. Her character voices are distinct, pacing good and diction clear. She makes a great use of accents.
Of the ones I listened to, there were not any explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

I like the voice of the narrator....
This book was so much fun to listen to - I cannot pick out any story in particular, but as a whole it was an easy and entertaining listen. Also, I really liked the voice of the narrator very much and it was nice to find out that LM Montgomery wrote more than just the one book everybody knows :-) Recommended.
