About this listen

As the chief problem solver for Babylon, Las Vegas’ most over-the-top destination, murder is a bit outside of her normal. But armed with a wicked wit and an even more wicked right-cross, Lucky takes it all in stride. But tonight taxes even Lucky’s formidable skills.

Lucky’s former lover, Teddie, shows up, hat in hand. A gaggle of egomaniacal chefs appear for a televised cook-off. And Lucky’s current lover, Jean-Charles, stops answering his phone. Since trouble comes in threes, Lucky is sure this is the extent of tonight’s trouble. As usual, she’s a tad optimistic.

A prized Alba truffle disappears from Jean-Charles’s restaurant. A young chef is murdered in Jean-Charles’ food truck. Jean-Charles still isn’t answering his phone. And when Lucky’s path crosses the killer’s, will her goose be cooked? You want to know...I know you do.

A light, funny, romantic mystery providing a Vegas escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh. Get your copy today!

This is my favourite Lucky O'Toole book, well until the next Lucky book comes out on audio. As each book seems to get better and better, if that is possible.
I really enjoyed this book and it was nice to have the wide cast of fun characters back together again. If this is you first book it doesn't matter that you don't know them as they are still fun and quirky as only Vegas can produce but I when definitely recommend the previous books as it has more meaning and they are not to be missed.
Jean-Charles,Lucky's lover has disappeared along with a very rare truffle and Teddie an ex lover is back. Which is bad enough but bodies keep turning up and the evidence points at Jean-Charles. Not sure who to trust Lucky finds herself running all over Vegas trying to track him down and prove him innocent but with tigers wild pigs, turkeys and not to mention a killer thrown at her things might just prove to be to tough for head of customers relations of the Babylon Lucky O'Toole.
For this book Deborah has gone with a different narrator and it took a while for me to get use to the change in speaker but by the end of the book she sounded perfect and easy to listen to.
Over all an excellent book and a must have.

I LOVE this series! Lucky O'Toole is up to her neck in trouble again. Her blossoming romance with her favorite French chef might be in trouble as a body shows up in his food truck. That's only the beginning as Lucky's mother orders a thousand turkeys to feed families in need and they arrive still gobbling, a priceless truffle goes missing and her ex friend/lover, Teddie, comes back to town. Fast paced and funny.

Another Winner!

Great book

In the realm of Lucky books, this one was good but not great. I am so done with Teddie and was not a fan that he reared his head again. How Lucky proceeds with him may cause me to re-think continuing with the series. Only time will tell. The mystery itself was decent but got a little lost in the personal shenanigans and since those involved Teddie, I wasn’t a fan. I wouldn’t recommend starting the series with this book, that’s for sure.

The narration on the audio was decent but not great— definitely better than the previous narrator but I felt like this one read with a bit too much melodrama in her voice. I will probably stick to the print version from now on.

Good but not as good as others in the series

It is most difficult to adjust to new narrator. Her habit of ending sentences with softer or questioning voice was distracting.
