About this listen

A Monstrum Warrior who has vowed never to claim a bride…

An older woman who thinks she’s done with love…

Can they come together to save the Earth…and each other?

What’s the worst Christmas present imaginable? A cheating husband? An angry mob outside your front door? What about menopause? Minister Emilia Oxley has gotten all three this Yuletide season and she could do without them all, thank you very much.

Enter Chief Commander Rarev, the leader of the Monstrum Kindred. He’s had his eye on Emilia from the start. Her courage and determination are incredibly attractive to him, as are her lovely full curves. Also, he can tell by her scent that she’s entering her Second Mating Period—the time of life when a female is most attractive to a Feline Monstrum. Since Rarev is a Lionus Monstrum, he can’t help but notice that Emilia is ripe for the plucking.

After he rescues her from an angry mob, the two of them find themselves on a mission to Rigellen Five. There they must compete against three other couples in a series of Trials to earn the right to mine Yillium. The rare mineral is what the Monstrum need in order to defend the Earth from the Darklings, ravenous creatures from another universe which are threatening to overrun the planet. Only if Em and Rarev win the Rigellen Trials can they gain the rights to the Yillium. But since the Rigellen people believe in public displays affection, the Trials are an intimate affair—extremely intimate.

Can Em and Rarev come together to save the Earth…and might they find love in the process? Listen to Loved by the Lion to find out!

*Author's note—there is a scene in here that might bother anyone who has ever been attacked before, but I promise it comes out all right in the end. Please listen responsibly!

Fun and sexy story

I have read this one before. The heroine’s accent and idioms are over the top, but if you can get over that, it’s a great Evangeline Anderson book.

Interesting New Series

I enjoyed this story line. Appreciate that a characteristic is the attraction to older women. it affords the opportunity to expand the story line of minor characters introduced before like the mother in the book Found. I hope the author's muse would allow for a story like that. Overall quite enjoyable.

Loved it!

These Kindred books do good. This book was funny and had those steamy love scenes and of course drama. It’s good for us curvy older females ego to hear praises. Mackenzie did a great job as usual. Can’t wait until the next book is released. Loving the Monstrum Kindred; in fact all Kindred.

Monstrum Kindred are the best

If you have followed any of this series, you know there are several different types of Kindred. After reading about 4 Monstrum Kindred books, I think they are my new favorites. I am a fan of this whole series. I do not read them in order. There are characters from other stories that do make appearances. I am never lost from the present story however. To give a quick summary, the Kindred are alien warriors who saved Earth from hostile aliens. Because of saving the planet and the fact that the Kindred race is starting to die out due to limited females, the Kindred had a treaty set up with Earth to start a bride draft program. If a bride was called, they had to report to the mother ship to meet with the Kindred Warrior they have been paired with for a bonding period. If at the end of the bonding period, the female wants to return to earth- she can. However, very rarely do the women return despite their protests to initially leave. The Kindred value all females. They are extremely protective and once bonded- it is for life. So, there is no cheating or disrespecting of any female. Chivalry is alive and well to these males. Kindred are REALLY large fellows, so they have so problem if the female has some extra pounds. The draft at this point in the series is pretty much not needed as many females volunteer to sign up in hopes of getting paired. The draft was only for single females, mainly within the age range to have children if they so desire. Sadly, the older ladies, passed child-bearing days were not included. Why is Evangeline Anderson one of my favorite authors? Because she listens to what her fans think. She had many requests for some romance for the older ladies- the ones with grown children and broken relationships that still need that loving feeling! And so she delivered!! The Monstrum Kindred prefer older women- they do not care if you have grey hair, extra pounds, a lot more wrinkles, hot flashes, and/or a complete obsession with chocolate. YES!! Now in this particular story, we have the Monstrum Kindred's leader, who has lion features. (Hello, Beauty and the Beast!) I LOVED this story. This had plenty of sexy time, but the storyline set up gave Emilia (Who is an Ambassador for England) and Rarev (The sexy beast commander) who were already attracted to each other time to learn about each other and to ultimately fall in love. There are tons of comical moments in this story that are quite entertaining. This is definitely a great read!!

❤️🦁 I enjoyed the narrator’s accent 🦁❤️

LOVED BY THE LION is the second book in Evangeline Anderson’s Monstrum Kindred series as well as the fortieth Kindred Tales book. What I loved most about this story is how the hero, Rarev, reminded me of a character in an old TV show that I adored in my childhood. I couldn’t help but picture him as I listened to Mackenzie Cartwright bring the story to life. I believe that it heightened my enjoyment of the story some. That’s what the .25 in the rating is for ☺️

I enjoyed this book more than I did the first in the series. In this installment of the Monstrum Kindred we get a fully flushed out story brimming with the author’s creativity. Something that especially resonated with me was Emilia‘s age related issues. It was fun reading about them in a kinship sort of way.

It was great hearing Cartwright’s British accent for this book. Although I’ve listened to many of her performances I believe this is the first time I’ve heard it. I think she hit the nail on the head with the accent that she affected for Emilia’s lines.

I loved it

I have been following the Kindred novels for some time but I love the incorporation of older women with the Monstrum. I loved the authors jump to a British woman too. Couldn’t stand M’s ex and love that her hair is grey.

Funny and entertaining

I love the new twist of Kindred with feline qualities. Who wouldn't want a man who can purr? 😉 The new characters we met during the trials were hilarious! My only issue with this book is that once again we have a Kindred who made a vow to never get bonded and a woman who feels that she's undesirable for whatever reason. It's really starting to feel like this is the author's go-to personality traits for the main characters. It's getting very repetitive and makes the leads less interesting. Luckily, this story is fun enough that I wanted to listen to the story anyways.
Narration was OK. British accents don't seem to be one of the narrator's strengths. She reads a but slow so I recommend increasing the speed to 1.30x so flow more naturally.
