An Instant New York Times Bestseller

A #1 LibraryReads and Indie Next Pick!

From the New York Times best-selling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a new STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis—with explosive results.

Like an avenging, purple-haired Jedi bringing balance to the mansplained universe, Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project—a literal dream come true after years scraping by on the crumbs of academia—Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. And sure, he caught her in his powerfully corded arms like a romance novel hero when she accidentally damseled in distress on her first day in the lab. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school—archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle. Perhaps it’s her occipital cortex playing tricks on her, but Bee could swear she can see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas…devouring her with those eyes. And the possibilities have all her neurons firing. But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there’s only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?

Critic reviews

“With her sophomore novel, Ali Hazelwood proves that she is the perfect writer to show that science is sexy as hell, and that love can ‘STEM’ from the most unlikely places. She’s my newest must-buy author.” (Jodi Picoult, number one New York Times best-selling author of Wish You Were Here)

“I cannot get enough of her brand of brainy romance!...Writing with an emotionally brilliant and witty pen, Hazelwood is an absolute romance powerhouse.” (Christina Lauren, New York Times best-selling authors of The Unhoneymooners)

“Gloriously nerdy and sexy, with on-point commentary about women in STEM.” (Helen Hoang, New York Times best-selling author of The Heart Principle)

“STEMinists, assemble. Your world is about to be rocked.” (Elena Armas, international best-selling author of The Spanish Love Deception)

Editorial Review

I need more Hazelwood, STAT.
I was a little nervous to pick this one up. I completely loved Ali Hazelwood's debut novel, The Love Hypothesis, but I've been around this block enough times to know how second novels sometimes go, so I approached with a little caution. Let me be clear: Do not approach with caution. Hazelwood has absolutely killed it again with Love on the Brain, bringing us a whip-smart heroine fighting the good fight in the male-dominated STEM world. This is in part a classic enemies-to-lovers story but, as with every Hazelwood hero, there is way more than meets the eye. I enjoyed every minute of this fun and slightly suspenseful tale, and can't wait for what Hazelwood has up her sleeve next. With zero hesitations. — Emily C.

Felt very familiar.

I didn’t notice until I got a couple of chapters in but this is basically The Love Hypothesis in a different font. Listened off and on over the course of a week or two just cause I was getting irritated how the mains just don’t communicate with each other. Slow burn, but okay once it gets there. If you are sappy for “fake enemies to lovers” this one is for you.

Cute, but very predictable.

I finished it because I enjoyed the narrator and Ali Hazelwood’s writing style, especially when it comes to the love interest. But within the first few chapters I had already predicted most of the book, including who the online friend was and who the villain of the book was. Also, for an intelligent woman, Bee was hopelessly lost😭 stayed for the male main character but DANG was she clueless.

I absolutely loved this book and the plot twist was top notch. The ending was so cute and the story was leaving me on the edge of my seat.. you know when I wasn’t pacing around my room!

A laugh every second

Loved the humor as well as the story. A relaxing, enjoyable read. The narrator did a fabulous job of interpreting the author’s words.

Cute 🥰

I don’t agree with the negative reviews I saw. I do agree it took a while to get on with the story, but I was enjoying it once it finally developed. Things were predictable in a good way. You felt hurt and loneliness and other feelings as the characters feel ,as they feel them. I love the amount of times cats were mentioned. It was a good enemies to lovers book. And I hope they continue it, perhaps with her sister.

Nerdy and Dramatic

All of Ali's books have that wonderful quirk to them. in this one Bee with her frantic energy really goes well with Levi and his cool and grounded attitude. I think the ending for this one was a complete surprise. Looking forward to the next one.

Sugar spice and everything vegan!

Loved the flow of this story, the humor, the random factoids, and the cats. I love a great romance that also has a fantastic storyline that keeps you guessing.

Maybe Bi women in the future?

Ali Hazelwood decided to include a bisexual woman and a mini romance! Crossing my fingers for more, it was very nicely written!

Wow.. Love Hypothesis who?

Jk I love both story’s! And let me just say.. the tension is for sure there 😂- I read the book before I jumped in and listened to the audio book and I’m kinda glad I did. I love reading but I seriously enjoy the narration of this story! I can’t possibly pick between LOTB and LH because I love them both. I adore Levi and Adam for all their weirdness and humor! Ali is a brilliant writer!!
