About this listen

Kayla Maxwell is eager to shed her slasher-flick bimbo image - and she plans to do just that in her new role on daytime's most popular soap. With a chance to showcase her dramatic range, Kayla will be able to wash away the lingering betrayal and public humiliation left by her controlling, philandering ex-boyfriend.

Sean Barrett, the son of an influential, award-winning actor, is the hottest soap star in the country. Paired on-screen with the talented and beautiful Kayla Maxwell, Sean is determined to keep her at arm's length, burned before by fame - seeking actresses who had no qualms about using him to get to his famous father.

But when Kayla receives threatening letters, her past as a scream queen seems to be coming back to haunt her. Succumbing to an attraction neither one of them can deny, Sean and Kayla must face down her stalker and their own personal demons before trusting what they both feel - a love that lasts long after the cameras stop rolling.

Very Enjoyable Romance

I was in the mood for a sweet, contemporary romance and I am so happy I picked Love in the Afternoon to listen to. It just fit the bill perfectly! It has everything you would want in a good romance story - two compelling characters, an interesting plot with a bit of mystery and some pretty good sex scenes thrown in.

Sean Barrett is an actor on one of the top rated Soaps on TV. He has been on the show for ten years despite his father's disapproval. His best friend is a famous baseball player and has issues that are affecting his game. Now Sean is paired up with a new actress and is worried that she was hired just for her pretty face.

Kayla Maxwell's mother is so excited her daughter is an actress on A New Dawn. Kayla is excited to work opposite of Sean, who she has had a crush on since she was younger. Now she has to prove herself as an actress all the while dealing with a cruel stalker who has been leaving her threatening messages.

Love in the Afternoon is a classic kind of contemporary romance that will never go out of style. A perfect way to escape from your problems for the afternoon and be entertained by an delightful story.
I am looking forward to Kelly and Matt's story.

Fluff

A fun book , but, wanted to have Kelly's story wrapped up. Felt there was more to have been said.

Another fun read.

I actually thought this story was pretty good. It kept moving and although the plot is nothing too new it didn't keep beating the same thought over and over again. Towards the end I couldn't stop listening.
I thought Gia St. Clair did a pretty good job but in all honesty she lacks with the male voices, in particular the main character, Ryan. Actually, most the male voices and the secondary female voices all sounded the same. A little boyish sounding for the females and pretty dweebish for the males. Do the narrators ever get to hear a playback before they hit send? I just don't get it. Thankfully, most the book was in her own voice or in Kayla's. Even so it was still a pretty good listen.

Listened nonstop and loved every minute

I usually listen to regency romances but picked this on a whim (the cover was pretty - that's my entire rationale).

It was surprisingly enjoyable! Both the main characters are down to earth and lovable, the plots are easy to follow, and the narration was terrific. The surrounding characters of their friends and family provide a nice backdrop as Kayla and Sean become friends and then fall in love on the set of their daytime soap. Sounds corny but it's really well done.

I definitely recommend this one as a highly enjoyable holiday read!

just a teenage romance

This story is very immature more like a teenage romance. Story lacks depth. Narrator only has 2 voices - Kayla and everyone else.
