About this listen
In Love That Lasts, New York Times best-selling author Jefferson Bethke and his wife, Alyssa, expose the distorted views of love that permeate our culture and damage our hearts, minds, and souls.
Drawing from Jeff's "prodigal son" personal history and from Alyssa's "true love waits" experience, the Bethkes point to a third and better way. Blending personal storytelling with biblical teaching, they offer listeners an inspiring, realistic vision of love, dating, marriage, and sex.
Young people today enter adulthood with expectations of blissful dating followed by romantic, fulfilling marriages only to discover they've been duped. They learned about love and sexuality from social media, their friends, Disney fairy tales, pornography, or even their own rocky pasts, and they have no idea what healthy, lifelong love is supposed to be like. The results are often disastrous, with this generation becoming one of the most relationally sick, sexually addicted, and divorce-ridden in history.
Looking to God's design while drawing lessons from their own successes and failures, the Bethkes explode the fictions and falsehoods of our current moment. One by one they peel back the lies, such as the belief that every person has only one soul mate, that marriage will complete you, and that pornography and hookups are harmless.

Story
This is your wake-up call to resist the Hustle culture and embrace the slowness of Jesus. Our culture makes constant demands of us: Do more. Accomplish more. Buy more. Post more. Be more. In following these demands, we have indeed become more: More anxious. More tired. More hurt. More depressed. More frantic. What we are doing isn't working! In a society where hustle is the expectation, busyness is the norm and information is king, we have forgotten the fundamentals that make us human, anchor our lives, and provide meaning.

Story
Jesus was most upset at people for seeing but not seeing. For succumbing to the danger and idolatry of forcing God into preconceived human ideals. But what if there were a better way? What if Jesus came not to help people escape the world but instead to restore it? It's Not What You Think tells the familiar stories of the scripture in a radically new light, presenting God's unchanging truths from the Old and New Testaments as the challenging story that it is: a mysterious, compelling narrative with God at the center.

Few subjects are as compelling-or as endlessly variable-as love and marriage. The Bible is filled with references to husbands and wives, from the story of Adam and Eve to advice in the New Testament, each open to interpretation. In The Meaning of Marriage, Timothy Keller, pastor of New York's Redeemer Presbyterian Church and bestselling author of The Reason for God, uses the scriptures as his guide to show readers what God's call to marriage is, and why this is such a powerful call.

But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture. We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. That wondrous early church of acts can be our reality today.

We are at war. Not with a foreign government or domestic terrorists or a creepy new artificial intelligence hell-bent on taking over the world. No, it’s a war we feel deep inside our own chests: we are at war with lies. The problem isn’t so much that we tell lies but that we live them. We let them into our bodies, and they sabotage our peace.

In chapters like "Parents Are a Gift (You Can't Return Them)" and "D is for Depression", he boldly goes where most of us fear to tread, revealing that we can be liberated by the embrace of a god who knows the most shameful things about us and loves us all the same. Because nothing is too awkward for God.

I'm 69 and have been married 3 times. I'm about to get married for the last time, so I decided to listen to this book with my fiance. We both loved it! It really helped us see past mistakes in previous relationships. We had very productive conversations during the time we listened to this book. I plan to get other books by these authors. If you want to be better at relationships, this will help!

Love this book!!
If you've read their previous books then you're going to come into this one knowing a little about their story, but don't let that stop you from opening up and digging into this book!!!! It is so good because it truly focuses on the biblical wisdom of relationships from both a man and woman perspective, not just the feel good stuff, but this is raw, honest, and open.
This book is for Jesus but not "preachy" it is infused with Gods love and makes it a turn on for everyone to read! {Would give this book to my non Christian friends in hopes they would see Christ love through a biblical minded relationship without "throwing the Bible" at them!}
Good read for everyone because it is complete opposite types of writing fused into one beautiful marriage of a story! Recommend if single, dating, engaged, & married! No matter what season of relationship you are in this is a great read!!!

Speechless!!
Almost done with first half of the book! All I can say is WOW! I work in an office that is silent most of the day unless the phone rings. I spend my time sending emails but I don't hear voices too much. This book is perfect for that time. It's like Jeff and Alyssa are sitting down with me teaching me about the Lord and how to love more without trying to be "perfect" like what society makes us want to be. I can't wait to finish this!
