Acerca de esta escucha

In the first of a Montgomery Ink spin-off series from NYT best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan, a broken man uncovers the truth of what it means to take a second chance with the most unexpected woman.

Graham Gallagher has seen it all. And when tragedy struck, lost it all. He's been the backbone of his brothers, the one they all rely on in their lives and business. And when it comes to falling in love and creating a life, he knows what it's like to have it all and watch it crumble. He's done with looking for another person to warm his bed, but apparently he didn't learn his lesson because the new piercer at Montgomery Ink tempts him like no other.

Blake Brennen may have been born a trust fund baby, but she's created a whole new life for herself in the world of ink, piercings, and freedom. Only the ties she'd thought she'd cut long ago aren't as severed as she'd believed. When she finds Graham constantly in her path, she knows from first glance that he's the wrong kind of guy for her. Except that Blake excels at making the wrong choice and Graham might be the ultimate temptation for the bad girl she'd thought long buried.

Graham is the oldest of the Gallagher brothers, he has been hurt by loss, a loss he can't get over with, a loss that brought his marriage to an end. He meets Blake who works at Montgomery Ink, a sexy tattooer with her own secrets. It's hate at first sight... They keep meeting and dismissing each other but they can't deny their attraction. It is so amazing how their lives complete each others if only they gave their love a chance. I loved the family banter with the Gallaghers, the way Maya glues that family to the Montgomery's and the love they share with their friends. This series is all about family ties. I so enjoyed Graham and Blake's HEA. Loved it!!
Oh and the narrator's voice is great, the growly voice and the low tones: super sexy :-)

Great start for a spinoff series! Loved Graham Gallagher!

Oh Graham…. Where do I even start with this one? Graham is the oldest Gallagher brother who we got to know a little bit in Jake’s book which is part of the Montgomery Ink series (Ink Enduring). My heart shattered for Graham when everything came to light. However I also understand why Blake did what she did…. But I don’t want to spoil that for anyone, even if it does happen pretty early in the book. I am glad Maya played a part in this book (I just love her), though I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since Graham and Jake are brothers. I can’t wait to see what other secrets Owen and Murphy are hiding from us.

Love the Gallagher’s!! Graham is definite bbf material. Great character. Blake was a little tough to like for me but still a cute story.
Gregory Salinas did a nice job with the characters.

Nice start for a spin off series

A nice spin off of the Montgomery Ink series. Shorter story but real depth in the characters. I really enjoyed the fierce family relationship and bond that matters. The world can be cruel but having love matters

A nice spin...

The idea of the story was nice but the ending left something to be desired. The personality of the female lead was a bit annoying. Don’t get me wrong, I am a momma too but how she handled having friends/relationship was just plain annoying. And how she changed her mind super fast at the end and decided to be with gram just added to it. I love happy endings but not when it like ‘bam!’ Here it is, is a bit disappointing. I feel like this story could have been a bit more longer and it would have been way better.

I liked the idea

Gallagher Brothers not Montgomerys

I enjoyed this story and it was a really good beginning to a new series. This story featured one of my favorite tropes: Enemies to Friends. And this one didn’t disappoint as we got the classic push and pull distinctive of love-hate relationships.

Blake Brennen has grown up from that silver spoon heiress that many people remembered. She has returned home a mature woman who knows the value of hard work. When she hires the Gallagher Brothers to restore her new home, Blake immediately clashes with Graham Gallagher.

His first impression of her is that of a pampered princess born with a silver spoon and he couldn’t stand her. Of course his body got a different memo. Despite the attraction, Graham treated Blake quite crudely. They spent a lot of time verbally sparring but it was clear that both Blake and Graham’s fighting was fueled by their past hurts and baggage.
Slowly, they begin to see beyond the surface and the secrets final come to life. In the end, Blake and Graham realize how much they misjudged each other and the individual healing began.

It took a while to connect with both character for different reasons, but I felt empathetic to their pain. At first glance, it appears that the author Carrie Ann Ryan wrote simple characters and plots. But as the story evolves, the reader sees just how complex and intricate the individuals truly were.

The pace was very even, and the chemistry was scorching hot. It was easy to read and I felt satisfied by the end. I look forward to finishing the Montgomery Ink series and getting more books in this series.

First book I have listened to by this author but it won't be the last. I really liked the enemies to lovers storyline. The hero Graham dislikes Blake from the instant he meets her even the she has done nothing wrong. Unfortunately for him they keep running into each other and eventually the brooding Graham will have to face his feelings. While this is a spin off from Montgomery Ink series it can be read/listened to as a standalone. Overall it was a quick and fun listen and Gregory Salinas did a great job with this dual POV story.
