About this listen
Amidst the frost-kissed halls of a medieval castle, where Yuletide cheer illuminates the shadows of the past, a tale of resilience, danger, and love unfolds. Thomas Greyville, a seasoned ex-spy for the crown and newly appointed Earl Graemes, returns to his ancestral home with a heavy heart. Tasked with restoring his family's estate, Thomas is confronted with dire news upon his arrival: the castle's coffers have been emptied, leaving the estate destitute. Determined to uncover the thief and restore his family's honor, Thomas finds an unexpected ally in Sybil, the widow of his late cousin Hugh. Sybil, scarred by a marriage marked by abuse and betrayal, has vowed never to trust or love again. Her focus remains steadfast on her daughter Margaret and ensuring their safety within the castle's walls. Yet, when circumstances draw her closer to Thomas, she discovers a strength within herself she thought long buried. As Thomas and Sybil join forces to unravel the mystery of the stolen funds, their tentative partnership blossoms into a deepening connection neither can deny. Despite their growing attraction, both struggle against the ghosts of their pasts and the uncertainties of their future together.
Meanwhile, whispers of a treacherous plot against King Henry VII reach Thomas's ears. Forced once more into the world of espionage, Thomas must navigate the dangerous corridors of power to uncover the conspirators before they succeed in plunging the realm back into chaos and war. Set against the backdrop of medieval splendor and political unrest, "Lord of Misrule" is a tale of passion and intrigue, where honor is tested, secrets unravel, and hearts find solace in the warmth of love's embrace. Can Thomas and Sybil uncover the truth in time to save the kingdom and seize their chance at happiness?

Powerful love story
This book was a joy to listen to. I love how romantic, respectful, and understanding Thomas is to Sybil. It truly shows the beginning of a true bond, these two forge together. I am one for mystery and I loved how in the background there is a mystery waiting to be solved. I’m always so intrigued how these people lived back then and appreciate the details given so you can paint a picture in your mind.
