About this listen

The all new memoir by legendary Kinks guitarist Dave Davies.

Dave Davies is the co-founder and lead guitarist of epoch-defining band the Kinks, a group with 50 million record sales to their name. In his autobiography, Davies revisits the glory days of the band that spawned so much extraordinary music, and which had such a profound influence on bands from The Clash and Van Halen to Oasis and Blur.

Full of tales of the tumultuous times and the ups-and-downs of his relationship with his brother Ray, along with encounters with the likes of John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix, this will be a glorious listen for Kinks fans and anyone who wants to hear about the heyday of rock 'n' roll.

Great Autobiography

I didn’t know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised I thought it was a very entertaining autobiography full of interesting stories and a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Dave seems like a very down to earth guy and was brutally honest in telling the good things in his life and the bad things. If you’re a Kinks fan it’s a must listen.

So much detail about his life!

I loved going through the career of Dave and the kinks. Loved hearing about his family and life in the road. His stroke and recovery. Great book!

Entertaining and honest memoir

What an amazing page turner brimming with Dave’s brutal honesty and humor. A must read for fans of the Kinks, the swinging 60s and what happened after.

Lack of accountability

Dave let down most of his family most of the time. He is kooky and unreliable. He is also bitter that record companies did not understand his solo works. He blames a lot of his challenges in life on his brother Ray. I can't wait to hear Ray Davies account of their relationship.

Now I understand why Ray was sometimes drawn to smacking Dave in the mouth. This guy is so full if shit.
