A former ugly duckling has a chance encounter with her unrequited high school crush, now a pro golfer. Will their past thwart a second chance at love?

Charlotte Windham went through a typical ugly duckling phase in high school while harboring a crush on Garrett Stephens, the school's athletic heartthrob. Today she’s a best-selling novelist and no longer “Glasses”, the humiliating nickname Garrett gave her.

Garrett transformed from teen heartbreaker to adult lothario and is now a successful professional golfer suffering from a possible career-ending injury.

Fifteen years after high school, Charlotte and Garrett have a chance encounter at a Los Angeles restaurant, and he can’t remember who she is. But as both hearts flutter with unfulfilled desires, awkward teenage memories might not be the only thing standing in the way of forever.

Can Charlotte forgive Garrett for his past ways and more recent Don Juan lifestyle? Can Garrett change his ways for a second chance with Charlotte, who may just be perfect for him?

If you love second-chance romances, swoon-worthy pro athletes, smart and witty female leads, and happily ever afters, scroll up now to buy.

❤ Thought-Provoking and Relatable ❤

Links by Lisa Becker, narrated by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter, is a standalone second-chance romance novel that's sure to please both fans of the genre, as well as new listeners. Like all of Becker's novels, this one is also very well-written and flawlessly narrated. I'll let you read the plot synopsis on your own, so I don't give anything away. I do want to add, though, that while this book started out as a simple way for me to pass the time, it ended up being so much more. It got me thinking about my own priorities in terms of relationships, opportunities (taken and missed), forgiveness, and ultimately happiness. I think this would make a great book club read because there is so much that could be discussed, especially the role pride plays in determining our futures.

I absolutely loved the performances of both narrators. They brought the characters to life in a way that was totally natural and believable, making my overall experience that much better. In fact, one of the best parts of listening to Lisa Becker's audiobooks is being able to listen to more than one narrator! Everything was smooth and easy to understand; they made me feel like I was watching a movie. Loved it!

As you can probably tell, I give Links by Lisa Becker, narrated by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter, an all-around rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The writing is fantastic, the characters and their situations are relatable, and the narration is top-notch. I recommend this audiobook to readers who enjoy the romance genre, as well as book clubs looking for thought-provoking novels that allow them to reflect on their own lives in terms of love, trust, and relationships.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. Happy listening! :-)

Second Chance Romance

Links by Lisa Becker is a second chance romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter.

I absolutely love Lisa’s books! They always leave me with a smile. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Garrett and Charlotte. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Connor and Stella did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like second chance romances or contemporary romances.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Charming & Heartfelt!

This fabulous second chance romance features a pro-golfer and an author, the story is well written with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. Charlotte ”Charlie” Windham and Garrett Stephens have history, she crushed on him in high school, but he never gave her a second glance, he did not even pay much attention when she tutored him and his twin brother. She saw how he acted with the girls and knew she did not stand a chance with him, besides she was only a nerd and he was part of the popular crowd, she was not sure if he even knew her name. Fast forward to fifteen years later, Charlie is a published author with a best seller under her belt and Garrett is a professional golf player who is recovering from an injury. When they run into each other again, he does not recognize her and when reminded of who she is, he mentions the name he used to call her “Glasses”. Garrett is very interested in getting to know Charlie a little better, but she won’t give him the time of day, she knows he is a player and he is all about the challenge of the chase. Though a man like him never really has to chase but she is worried once she gives in he will lose interest in her. Garrett is determined and won’t give up on her, though she is not the only challenge in his life at the moment, he has his career to worry about too. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a wonderfully plotted story with the perfect balance of drama, humor, charm, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. Lisa Becker, thank you for another enjoyable and wonderfully entertaining story.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Connor Crais and Stella Hunter do an amazing job bringing these characters to life, and do so with a complete understanding of each of their character’s personas and are believable in every role they play. Connor Crais’ Garrett is spot on, swoon worthy and all. Stella Hunter is a natural in Charlie’s role, grasps her all sides of her personality, including her strength and determination and her insecurities. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, handle the charming and witty dialogue with ease and landing the humor effortlessly. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, having you feel every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The first book I've read by Lisa Becker and I really enjoyed it. Links is the story of an unrequited teenage crush that turns out to be a mutual adult attraction. Charlotte hasn't seen Garrett since she was an awkward teen with braces and glasses. Her crush is still in full force, only now he wants to get to know her. I really enjoyed this story! I laughed out loud and loved the slow burn of the romance. Definitely recommend!

Cute, sexy, fun second chance love story

I love everything about this book, who would have thought a golfer can be charming 😏

This book was sweet, romantic, seeeexy and soo funny. Second chance romance at it's finest. A smart young girl finally blooming to a beautiful still smart and even more charming woman and her love interest...Garret, still a cocky womanizer until he realizes how wonderful Charlotte is. It was fun finding out if Garret could win the forgiveness and love of Charlotte.

Stella Hunter and Connor were absolutely perfect for the roles of Charlotte and Garrett, they brought this story to life and is one of the many reasons this book is one of my favorite this year. Lisa Becker has a wonderful sense of humor ✌😂

I highly recommend this book especially the audio 😉 I know I'll be listening to it many times.

Lisa Becker you rock!!!

Charlie & Gavin

Links by Lisa Becker pulled me in from the very beginning. I love how the author wrote the characters of Charlotte, Gavin and others in this book. Spanning time from high school crush to current day adulthood. The characters had matured and evolved into their best. The narration by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter was perfect. Both brought the characters to life with their voices and added chemistry and realistic emotions. I loved the sensitive actions and vibrant descriptions the author wrote. I could envision so many details. I loved it!

Sweet, Heartfelt, and Steamy Romance!

Links was a fun, sweet and entertaining listen. Charlotte (Charlie) was a nerdy girl in high school with a huge crush on her friends brother who was a popular athlete. She was invisible to him even when she was helping him with his homework. Garrett became a successful golfer and was known for his playboy ways. He recently suffered a possible career ending injury, and is reevaluating his life. He bumps into Charlotte one day, and doesn't recognize her. She enjoys bantering with him, keeping him guessing, even tho it hurts underneath. Garrett is intrigued by the sexy woman who doesn't fall at his feet. When he discovers who she is, he can't wait to find out more about her. Charlotte doesn't want to give in to a player like Garrett, because she know he could shatter her heart, so she keeps him at a distance, and in the friend zone. As they spend time together, learning more about each other, the attraction becomes harder to deny and puts both their hearts at risk. I loved this sweet, slow burn story that explores the possibilities of growth, change, trust, and love. Charlotte was fun, nerdy, and caring, and Garrett was so sweet and charming and totally swoony as he tried to make Charlotte see him in a new way.
The chemistry between Stella Hunter and Connor Crais is breathtaking as they bring these smart, strong, sexy characters to life. They easily illuminate their wit, passion, and vulnerability, making Charlotte, Garrett, and their world completely real, and making me adore this fun, charming, and sizzling story even more!

Loved it!

As a golfer myself, I was thrilled to listen to book with a professional golfer as the male main character, and this book did not disappoint. Garrett and Charlotte were high school classmates, where Charlotte was the ugly duckling and Garrett was the popular athlete. Charlotte's unrequited crush on Garrett really stuck with her for much longer than she even realized.

When they meet again later in life, Charlotte is a best-selling author and Garrett is a professional golfer currently taking time off with a possibly career-ending injury. When they reconnect Charlotte is justifiably wary of Garrett's playboy reputation and she knows that she needs to guard her heart from starting something romantic with Garrett that would be inevitably temporary.

This book is a slow burn, friends to lovers trope that takes you through the building of a beautiful friendship and the potential pitfalls of falling for someone you never believed you could have. The characters are well developed, complex, and sympathetic and the relationship is built slowly, but with a strong foundation and a real chance for them to get to know the people they have become.

Throw in some Princess Bride jokes, Harry Potter and 90's hip hop music references, and a hilarious game of "I Never", and this book was obviously written specifically for me!

There are definitely some lessons thrown in for good measure (like letting go of things from the past, learning to deal with insecurities, realizing that trust is needed in every relationship, and accepting that people can change), but you aren't hit over the head with it, just a gentle realization that you are reading about flawed humans that are inherently relatable.

Connor Crais and Stella Hunter were a brilliant pairing and flawlessly embodied these characters, breathing that extra special something into the story that only immensely talented actors can do. Definitely worth a credit to hear these two tell this story.

This is a stand alone book with a satisfying HEA.

A slow burn

As an awkward, uncomfortable teenager Charlotte always had a crush on the slightly older, much more attractive and popular Garrett. But the girl with the glasses never really ends up with the jock, that kind of thing only happens in the movies, lol. But grown-up Charlotte is about to live out the romcom of her life! The chemistry between Charlotte and Garrett is definitely there but it is a slow burn throughout the book. Watching them rekindle a friendship that turns into romance is a fun ride that I would highly recommend.
