Wonderful!
Scottish author Ian MacLean travels to America to bring his great aunt, Grace back to Scotland to keep his granny company so he can be free of his caregiver burden. But what he finds is a beautiful young woman he'd written to for a couple for years leading up to this trip, a woman who by marriage has called Grace "Aunt" as well.
Emily Chapman loves her aunt dearly and does not want to see her leave. But spending time with Ian, seeing things from his perspective, or what she thinks is his perspective, changes her mind and her heart toward a man she thought she might have to do battle with about their aunt.
Far too early in the book they declare their love for each other, which only means one thing...there's either trouble or an issue ahead.
Aaaaaand, there was. But oh, the writing through it all took my breath away. I rooted for them, engrossed in each character's trials and joys. I fell in love with Ian and sweet aunt Grace, and Ian’s sister Claire. Even Emily's quirky friend Jay was such a hoot! Loved the way she kept calling Ian "Johnny". Such a great cast in this delightful book.
My heart broke for Emily several times, but as they all learned to trust in God's perfect will I couldn’t help but be affected myself.
Again, as with Love Like a Song, Becky Doughty totally crushed the narration! (Uh, that’s a good thing). She had to not only read girls' parts, but elderly ladies and men...AND change accents! Her voices for elderly, Scottish Aunt Grace and Granny Maggie just tickled me. I seriously forgot it was an American woman speaking the parts. She did an amazing Scottish burr for Ian and did a solo hymn sung in church with a different Scottish man's accent. Crazy good. And by the way, I tried googling the lyrics to see if I could find the song because it was marvelous, but Google came up with nothing. Ah but it was sweet.
Seriously, the only thing I don’t care for about this book is the cover. No biggie, I just didn’t get it. And there are no hummingbirds in Europe. A lush green Scottish countryside might be more in keeping since much of the book takes place there. But I’m not going to reduce the star-rating because of it.
Good book I can recommend wholeheartedly.
Addendum... the author informed me a new cover with a Scottish-like scenery will replace the hummingbird. Yay!

Awesome narration of Scottish-American Romance
"Every day is a gift." Awesome narration of Scottish-American romance, read with lovely Scottish brogue. Beautifully written transatlantic love story, mostly set in Scotland that started with the exchange of handwritten honeysuckle-scented letters. Prayer sets the hero free to forgive and love again. Loved the great variety of different voices this narrator (my absolute favorite) manages again, young and old, men and women, girls and boys. And a song! Will be listening to "Like there's no tomorrow" again. And again and again.

Riveting story of facing fears and letting go
Would you consider the audio edition of Like There's No Tomorrow to be better than the print version?
"Like There's No Tomorrow" gripped and inspired me from page one. It quickly became one of my favorite books, adding Camille Eide to my "auto-purchase author" list. But listening to the audiobook brought an even deeper level of understanding and connection with the characters. I was captivated by the rich Scottish brogue and fell in love with the story all over again in a new, fresh light
What was one of the most memorable moments of Like There's No Tomorrow?
Each of the characters face real-life challenges of heartache and disappointment, but witnessing their journeys of releasing control and letting go of fear and bitterness was heart wrenching and inspiring.
What does Becky Doughty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her Scottish brogue brought the book to new life for me, setting the stage more firmly in The Scottish culture than when I read it on my own (quite possibly because my attempt at a Scottish accent is doused with a southern twang). I have listened to many audiobooks and some make it harder for me to get lost in the story. But Becky Doughty nailed the narration of this story, making it even more captivating than I ever thought possible.
Any additional comments?
If you've already fallen in love with "Like There's No Tomorrow" in print, I highly recommend adding the audio version to your collection as well. It's worth every penny.
If this is your first encounter with Camille Eide, don't pass her by. She has a beautiful way of bringing characters to life that feel like they could be your neighbor or best friend, weaving them together in an unpredictable, witty, and inspiring way.

4.5 STARS!
Like There's No Tomorrow was simply a beautiful story with wonderfully developed characters - main and secondary. There was not one character that didn't have a message to share, whether obvious or delicately woven around Ian and Emily's central story. Along with a heart-tugging romance and subtle humor, there was also a potent and life-affirming faith thread. Ian's faith journey was especially moving. You cannot finish this book without falling in love with the Godly man Ian becomes. I'm thrilled to have found this little gem and look forward to reading more from Camille Eide.
Although I'm sorry that I didn't read this book sooner, at the same time I probably wouldn't have been encouraged to listen to the audio - and it was fantastic! Dialects, inflections, and character voice can make or break an audio listen. For me, there's no recovery from a poor audio even if I switch to solely reading. In addition to her own collection of authored books and unbeknownst to me, Becky Doughty is also an amazing narrator (and singer!) I usually only listen to audio when I can't physically be reading, but this was one of the rare instances where I just wanted to keep listening.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL Love Story!!!
What does Becky Doughty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The Scottish brogue was spot-on. There is NO way I could have enjoyed reading this book without the inflection and the characters coming to life as they did by this narrator. And the SONG...oh my word. I work in Corporate America and have listened over the past two days whilst working and shed tears when the song was sung. I had to go to the restroom and wipe my tears and fix my makeup after that song. MERCY. The way she brought each character to life was amazing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud (yes, at work). I cried. I sighed. I grew angry. I became irritated. I held my breath during some scenes, was scared during others, and nearly talking back as one would do during story telling time. I was wrung out emotionally - but in a GOOD way.
Any additional comments?
I cannot tell you what an impact this book had on me. Oh my gosh. And to have made it such a divine and spiritually inspiring book to boot is phenomenal. BEAUTIFULLY written and narrated. I could imagine every single scene as described by the author and the narrator. PLEASE add more books by this author and narrator. I am having withdrawals already!!!

I fell in love with these characters!
What made the experience of listening to Like There's No Tomorrow the most enjoyable?
Becky Doughty's Scottish brogues - all the various ones per the different characters - really set this audiobook apart from many others! I fell headlong for Maggie and Grace much faster because of her talent.
Who was your favorite character and why?
That's a tossup between Maggie and Grace - their antics were hilariously sweet and reminded me of my own grandmothers. And, again, Becky Doughty gave life to them through her voices.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I got caught up in the story - the romance between Ian and Emily, the antics of Maggie and Grace. Just about the time I relaxed into the love story, the rug got yanked out from under me and then i HAD to keep listening to find out what would happen!
