Acerca de esta escucha

Written during the last decade of her life, Light in the Dark represents the culmination of Gloria E. Anzaldúa's mature thought and the most comprehensive presentation of her philosophy. Throughout, Anzaldúa weaves personal narratives into deeply engaging theoretical readings to comment on numerous contemporary issues—including the September 11 attacks, neocolonial practices in the art world, and coalitional politics. She valorizes subaltern forms and methods of knowing, being, and creating that have been marginalized by Western thought, and theorizes her writing process as a fully embodied artistic and political practice. Resituating Anzaldúa's work within Continental philosophy and new materialism, Light in the Dark takes Anzaldúan scholarship in new directions.

So thankful for narrated books. Also thankful for Gloría's amazing interweaving of different worlds. Gotta say: the narrator drove me a little nuts. For example, she pronounces jaguar as "jagwire." I was surprised her Spanish sounds a lot like mine, and I am Chinese! Maybe she is Chinese, too? Anyway, great book, funny narration.

Great Book; Not-So-Good Narration

Gloria embodies our truest self through her work. The determination to stay true to her role creates a manifestation of intergenerational collaboration. May her works be continued in life after death.

Anzaldúa's work is multilingual. It is shaped not only in Spanish and English, but also in Spanglish, Chicano, Mexican Spanish. I was tormented by the reader's accent and the fact that Audible ignored what this work demands. Spanish, Spanglish, are important! Your poor choice almost made me quit.

Anzaldúa deserves multilingual readers

This book is a must read for all clinicians, IFS practitioners and psychedelic facilitators. It spoke to me as a queer latine practicing all of the above. For my clients and I. May Anzaldua be an ancestor that continues to guide us.

I'm halfway through the first chapter and the voice actress chosen to read the book is killing me. publishers has to understand that the author was multi lingual, so a multi lingual reader was needed. I cringe at all the awful Spanish pronunciation and it snaps me out of listening and understanding. Please rerecord this title and give it away for free to everyone who purchased it. Nails on a chalkboard!!!!

Awful Voice Actress Choice

This is an important book, it deserves an excellent audiobook and this is not that. The narrator reads English well, but when the text switches to Spanish, the pronunciations are all over the place. There are many folks who know Anzaldúa’s work and could render this into a powerful audio experience. This one left a lot to be desired.
