A bridge book

In Liberation, the four storylines from the first two books are expanded and all seem to be headed for a combination in book 4. So far, an interesting story with lots of threads, but this book definitely needs the first two to be read previously to make sense.

So is this the last book?

So not sure if this is the last book or not but the end was somewhat lackluster. Again narration for me was an issue, I was very confused often when she switched stories and people as often it was not distinguishable, He voices need work. I kind of thought the stories would tie together better than they did. All in all this book left me with a MEH feeling. Could have been great with more depth, better narration and a better tie in and ending

It's finally revolution time, baby!

This was the kind of revolution action that I had been expecting from this series. From Captain Elgin to Brek to the Protector on the ice prison planet and the reformers marching on Parliament, these were the scenes and story lines that I had been wanting from the first two books. I feel like there's more tension and an actual way to move the story forward than what came from Catalyst and Uprising.

I did wish, however, that Rachel Ford dug into each story line deeper. This book is where everything got really good, but I didn't feel like each part received the justice it deserved. Really, I think each story line - Brek, Nikia, Elgin, and the Protector - could have stood on its own rather than combining all the meaty stuff into one book. Those arcs each could have been expanded to make Liberation even better, though the arcs stayed within the theme of the book.

I'm still not completely sold on Nikia. I think a lot of it has to do with how Megan Green voices her, which sort of comes across as breathless and innocent. To me, Nikia should appear stronger and harder for what she has been through. Maybe that's the fault of the author for not expanding and growing Nikia, but the voice doesn't help either.

Again, I'll reiterate that I don't believe Green was a great choice for this series because her voices for the male characters are not very good. However, I was so hooked into this book that it didn't annoy me nearly as much in Liberation as it did in Uprising.

Wow!

This book was top notch. I enjoyed the intense plot twist as Mrs. Eden takes a simple act of trying to arrest her husbands murders, and turns it into an all out revolution. The people on central have managed to succeed in starting a new way of life and things seem to be going great. This is an exciting book that I enjoyed listening to and can't wait to listen to book 4 in the series.

👍🏻

I did enjoy this series. It’s a bit to political for me to really get into it. Maybe because it felt a bit to real. Rachel Ford’s artistic world building makes it easy to get sucked into the story. Pretty dark and gritty compared to her other series I’ve read. I did like that.

Not fond of the narrator. I’d prefer to read the book over listening to this narrator. She has a lisp and it’s just too distracting to enjoy the book.

A great story!

This is probably one of my favorite stories. I would read Catalyst right before
this book as it continues Brek Trigan's story of survival. There are several
non-events that probably should have been elaborated on, but it's
understandable why they are skipped as none of the main characters are there
for them - I can't go into more detail without spoilers, but if you read the
story you will know what I'm talking about.

That said there is plenty to enjoy in this story. The new characters on the
prison planet are great - they really round out the crew of the series nicely.
