A sexy, swoony romance from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Jessie Evans.
Cowboy bikers, fireworks, and romance, oh my....
Wild girl Mia Sherman has a secret - she isn't as fearless as she pretends. Descended from Lonesome Point, Texas's founding family, Mia grew up hearing tales of an old Irish curse that had followed the Shermans to America. At age 24, Mia is still terrified of the stories, because they aren't stories. They are a warning about what will happen if Mia allows love and romance into her life. The curse struck Mia's grandmother and her great-great-whatever grandmother, and Mia knows she could be next. The first-born daughter of every generation is cursed to lose her husband on her wedding night, which is one of the many reasons Mia has sworn off relationships.
Until the fateful day Sawyer Kane rides his Harley into her life...
Rancher turned restoration expert Sawyer Kane can't believe his luck when the feisty owner of the lingerie shop next to his hotel turns out to be the curator of his latest project, a ghost town he's been sent to restore. He's looking forward to long, hot days talking history, and hotter nights with Mia, but the redhead with the killer smile seems determined to keep him at a friendly distance. But when a dangerous man from Mia's past arrives in town, Sawyer finds himself drawn into her inner circle, and into the legend of Lonesome Point itself.
Can true love conquer all, even a centuries-old curse? Mia and Sawyer may be the first to find out.

I think that—like most romance readers—I have a special spot in my heart for heroes with a sad back story. There's something about seeing a guy who has had a tough life become a courageous, gentle man instead of a thug. Sawyer could so easily have become that. He's a big bald guy who rides a motorcycle and wears a Stetson and I found him surprisingly sweet and gentle. Mia's so full of sass it's a wonder any guy could get past her emotional defenses—'cause she's had her own bumpy past when it comes to relationships. Together they just combust.
I actually wound up snagging the audiobook for L&L because it was a steal since I owned the Kindle copy already. If you're an audio reader I think it's a great listen. I almost died of red-face though because I was listening without headphones and it got to the first love scene—which was pretty long and very dialog-heavy—and my husband got to hear the whole scene. If you love a high-heat romance I'm pretty sure my husband's disgusted reactions to the male narrator reading the scene are an indication you'll enjoy it. lol
If you're into romantic suspense genre, there is a mystery and a suspense element to the overall story, but I'll admit I wasn't expecting them based on the blurb and they were kind of meh to me. I just wasn't feeling them, kinda felt a little like they detracted from the small-town romance mood in a way that just didn't work for me. But, if you dig the genre you might love it, it's just not my thing outside of the paranormal shelves.
Overall, it was a terrific read on audio but I think I would have been just as happy reading it myself. I'm really looking forward to diving into SADDLES AND SIN as well as DIAMONDS AND DUST because I adored Bubba and Tulsi as secondary characters. If you wind up rooting for secondaries to get their own books I definitely recommend picking up the HOT TEXAS DAYS box set which features the first three books in the series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would absolutely recommend this audiobook to a friend. Jessie Evans books are go-tos for me, and I love every single one of them. This new series is hot and sexy, and the addition of the mystery, along with the love story, is a winner. What was one of the most memorable moments of Leather and Lace?
I loved Mia's and Sawyer's first time together. Also, the part of the book where Paul came back for Mia was heart-pounding, and added a great edge to the story. What does Mikael Naramore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved this story when I first read the book and I have to say listening to it brought a new dimension of love! The character interactions and development were really good and the way Sawyer and Mia met and were drawn felt real. What did you like best about this story?
The humor and sensitivity of both Sawyer and Mia. Two people who have experienced bad past relationships, who aren't looking for serious but find forever in the other! Plus you had some suspense and mystery thrown in!What does Mikael Naramore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

What did you like best about this story?
The love story and family closeness. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did.Any additional comments?
This was a good love story about two people who didn't want to settle until they became friends with benefits, and then fell in love. Her history with abuse kept her from admitting her love and using a family curse as the excuse. However he didn't' let any of it hold him back, his patience had his reward.Curses and love.

Mia and Sawyer were rather explosive together

The Bad: after barely escaping with her life and going back to her small Texas hometown, Mia does NOT learn to protect herself. She doesn't learn self-defense, how to use a weapon or have a security system installed in her building. Since Mia earned a MBA in business, she should have been smarter than that.
As the first book in a romantic series, there was great potential; entertaining moments, some explicit but not degrading sex scenes, a sexy, non-violent hero and an endearing cast of friends, family and neighbors.

The characters came to life in my mind as the story was read to me.
Sawyer and Mia were made for one another. Their dialogue and scenes together were witty, funny and even sexy.
This is my 2nd audio book (as in ever) and I have to say that this is the best way to get through working on a project!
Phenomenal narration and story line!
