About this listen

John Mack, a prepper and former soldier, struggles to save his family and community after an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) takes out the country's electrical grid. With most electronics, communications, and transportation destroyed in a matter of seconds, the nation quickly collapses into anarchy. For John and the other residents of Willow Creek Drive, the breakdown of social order throws them back to the 1800s. As the community tries to come together, a powerful outside force appears that threatens their survival. Will John's years of military and prepping experience be enough to keep them safe? Mixing tons of useful prepping tips into an action-packed story, Last Stand: Surviving America's Collapse is a must-listen for any fans of survival fiction.

Great Listen

This story was exciting and chapters were compelling. I started the book on a Monday morning, and was finished by the following night. The plot sparks your interest in the very first chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not everything goes as planned

A different twist on what might really happen.
This book describes some of the best things you can have as a prepper. That would be other people not just gear.

Blah

Wooden characters, tired story line, another alco-pop prepper story. Too simplistic and unimaginative for my taste.

Solid Listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this book goes a little deeper than the typical factoid prepper novels. It goes into ethical questions such as should I help my community or cut my loses. The narration is solid and easy to listen too. One enjoyable aspect of the book is that it is not an over the top story. It's based in reality. My only complaint is the book is a little on the short side.

Enjoyable Read - Not graphically Gory

Would you listen to Last Stand again? Why?

Probably (but there are so many other titles on Audible that are calling my name, so maybe not).

Who was your favorite character and why?

John, for his strength and steadfastness.

What about Kevin Stillwell’s performance did you like?

Not crazy about the narration.

Any additional comments?

Enjoyed this book because it did not stray off into descriptions of perversions done by the demented bad guys nor was it overly graphic and gory as are some survival stories. I found the story to be entertaining and interesting.

Exciting and informative

Narrator of this audio book did a great job. Review page not letting me submit without more words.

A very Realistic Thriller

Here's a book that will keep you on edge almost from the beginning. Not only is the story extremely realistic, but it makes you take pause and think about what you should be doing in your own life to prepare for a local or national emergency. This book demonstrated how fragile our society is, and how easily it can unravel in a S.H.T.F./W.R.O.L. scenario!

Development lacking; jumpy in places

The story needs more development. There were some continuity (flow issues). Also some plausibility issues.

Knoxville, TN is a pretty large city, what about planes falling from the sky?

In my opinion, hen they finally fled the city, the city streets would have been blocked too.

Excellent performance

Story line was unusual and informative while being entertaining. Could have provided more details. But the brevity kept the book short and interesting.
