Love the fact that both characters are head strong

Really liked the book, both characters were strong instead of the damsel in distress or lost in life I have seen in other books.

I liked the story and will read the next book in the series. The one thing that bothered was the fact the H decided to use sex to get his way.

love it

This is second book I've listened to in this series and I loved it. The narrator has a great voice. Can't wait for the rest of them and especially to know what happened with her sister.

Loved it..

Well, it started off with Cassie running through the forest. She was only 7 or 8 so that had to be scary. It was a very long prologue but it gave you all kinds of information about the child, and immediately you wanted Cassie’s father and step-mother in jail. What she went through with her father and step-mother was just horrendous. Maybe they should be dead instead on in jail.

I must tell you there was no OMG moments in this book but I really, really enjoyed it. It was a terrific love story about Luke and Cassey without a ton of angst and misunderstandings. Oh, there was a big misunderstanding at one time BUT they talked about it when it started and straightened it out immediately. Truly remarkable in a romance novel. Most authors want to drag a misunderstanding and the angst for the entire book so it was very nice having something a little different.

Cassey was a bar and grill owner and if it were a real place I’d love to go there. Luke’s father wanted Cassey’s property and even though Luke was sent there to talk Cassey into selling he started having feelings for her and Luke changed sides. Jeffery, Luke’s father was a real jerk until near the end. Sophia, Luke’s mother was a sweet as she could be. As was Cassey’s brothers, Marcus, Cole and Roman.

The word damn was used 5 or 6 times but other than that there was no swearing. There was so much sexual tension it was amazing. And there were 5 or 6 sex scenes.

As to the narration: Roy Samuelson did a great job on the voices. The men really sounded sexy and the women sounded like women BUT he has no emotion. He never laughed, cried, whispered, murmured, nothing. If he hadn’t done such a good job on the voices I wouldn’t have listened to him, I would have just read the book.

I liked this story for most of the book, with no concerns, but at the end, it felt like Ms. Sanders lost focus. I didn't understand why Cassie reacted so vehemently to Luke telling her about his plans. Her, and the rest of the businesses on the boardwalk, never had an issue with a hotel being built on the island, their issue was that Luke's father was trying to buy up the property that their businesses were already on. Additionally, Luke says that he has no idea how his father found out about the plans even though he very specifically sent out press releases to several media outlets "up and down the coast" to make his plans of building a hotel public as a means to cut the legs out from under his father. There were also several times when someone would bring up a point in conversation that would be like waving a red flag in front of any normal person, but the characters seems to be oddly oblivious.

Warning highly addictive series

Amazing first book! Cassey and Luke had me from page 1, and keep me wanting more all the way to the end. I was sad with the book came to an end.

Cassey and Luke had very different up brings. Cassey was raised in a foster home after being saved from her drug addicted mother. Luke was raised by a rich family that never had time for him, until his brother was killed. Both of them had a very sad childhoods. I just loved watching them both open up and letting each other in.

I cant wait for the next books! This book is very Sweet, a few sad parts, but just overall a great book!

Another wonderful series by this author

The start out of this book will leave you with your mouth open. Cassey did not have a good start in life. All that changed when a wonderful lady took her away and placed her in a loving home. As she grew up she knew she wanted to make this family proud of her and help others just like her. She now starts over getting the old family business up and running along with helping to support a program to help child like her and her brothers. One man comes along and wants to take all that way from her or does he? Luke comes in cocky and in control just like his old man. Cassey turns the tables on him and she might find is he isn’t so bad after all.

The author gives you two people trying to live up to their parents. Cassey for what they did for her and Luke for what he thinks he owes them. I really liked both these characters they are both strong but weak, both caring and loving and both want a better world. The question is how far both will go to get what they want. Cassey is a strong lady she doesn’t give up easy and gives Luke a run for his money. I love their sense of humor and found this a very humorous read at times.

Roy Samuelson does a really good job of narration at first I just wasn’t sure about a male voice. His characters voices are wonderful and full of emotion. You have no trouble telling who is talking and what they are feeling. I heard no background noise although I did hear a few changes in tone when I believe he took a break. His female voices were a delight he pulled them off wonderfully. I have listened to other audios by this narrator and have always been impressed by his work. I really look forward to listening to more by Mr. Samuelson.

I thought the author gave a wonderful read that really touches your heart. I feel many will be able to relate to these characters and may have been in the same place as Cassey. It is a powerful read with powerful chemistry both from the main characters and Luke’s family. I really didn’t care for his father and I was on the limb on his mother. Really she turned out to be a sweet lady which really shocked me.

I thought this was well written with a lot of thought put into the story. The author puts a lot into a short listen never leaving the read behind or guessing to what happen in the past. Luke’s might start out pushy rich boy but it doesn’t take long to see just where his heart is and just what he thinks of his world. It might shock you to the reason he goes along with his family. There isn’t anything his family won’t do to keep him in line. He really has some tough decisions to make. There are some pretty hot scenes along with some very touching ones. I think most will find this an entertaining read.

Agreed - Highly Addictive Book More - Please!

Luke is out to set the world on fire. He has big shoes to follow – that of his father. In his father's world business comes first and family second. He is out to follow his example.

Cassey has a thriving business on the coast. While other businesses are selling out to this contractor, she has too much invested and will not even consider it.

What will happen when Cassey & Luke meet? This book is packed full of action, passion, anger, love and everything else; you will enjoy every page or every minute of this book.

Notes: Mature themes, descriptions of sex and some strong language.

Stars: I give each category 4 stars. This is a great book, very enjoyable and I'm glad that I received this book in exchange for my review. I'm adding the rest of the books in the series to my Wish List.

Sweet

Would you listen to Last Resort again? Why?

I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait to read/listen to the rest of the series. The story was interesting and kept my interest.

That you could see yourself and visualize what was playing out.

Which scene was your favorite?

I don't do spoilers but I would say it would have to do something with a log and a stick on the beach.

I thought the pauses were a little too long during chapter changes. I looked I know at least three times to make sure I hadn't accidentally hit pause.
