About this listen

The new novel in Craig Johnson's beloved New York Times best-selling Longmire series.

Attempting to recover from his harrowing experiences in Mexico, in Land of Wolves Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire is neck deep in the investigation of what could or could not be the suicidal hanging of a shepherd. With unsettling connections to a Basque family with a reputation for removing the legs of Absaroka County sheriffs, matters become even more complicated with the appearance of an oversize wolf in the Big Horn Mountains to which Walt finds himself feeling more and more empathetic.

The band is getting back together

Thank you Mr Johnson for returning us to Wyoming and the company of Henry Standing Bear, Vic, Sancho and Lucian. The last book (the Depth of Winter) was just too dark for me. Walt's struggle in the aftermath of Mexico is believable, but the author still manages to inject the humor, personal insights and comradery that I have come to expect in his mysteries. Gotta say, it left me loving Walt more than ever.

Latest Longmire

My first Longmire book, and it was well worth. The book is wonderfully read by George Guidall, as usual, and the listener immediately engages with the well drawn characters. The solution of the crime, and its motivation, are a little thin, but I will be back for more Longmire stories.

I wish

I really enjoy the dialogue between Walt and Cheyenne Nation. I dislike the mouth on the “under sheriff” and her brazenness. George Guidall is the perfect voice for Longmire but the audio was recorded too quietly. I had to strain to hear and understand MANY of the passages.

different

slow start but got interesting later. a few twist and turns but no multi cases going on. Narration Super. none better. made lighter story line interesting. Being a little critical? Maybe but Walt is one of my favorite characters. Keep him going....

Simply brilliant

Once again Craig Johnson has written an amazing story. The way in which he describes Wyoming makes you feel as though you are there. You feel as though you just had “ the usual “ at the busy bee and are now climbing the steps behind the courthouse only to take a leisurely autumn stroll beside clear creek. You truly become invested in the complex yet down to earth characters. The story is almost secondary to the people and situations. The narration is once again perfection as well.

Extraordinary Writing

A story that wouldn’t let me stop listening, although a difficult tale to hear.
I feel I know the characters I’ve followed through several books. No one could read Walt Longmire but George Guidall. His voice IS Walt. It is so familiar, so comforting to know Walt is still fighting for the law of the county, in spite of his health and the world changing around him. This book is one of my favorite Longmire stories.
