Publisher's summary

Lady Calliope Manning is determined to punish the man she holds responsible for her beloved brother’s death.

She will do anything in her power to destroy him. When rumors swirl that the Earl of Sinclair requires a wealthy bride to rescue himself from dire financial straits, she seizes the opportunity to ruin him at last.

Justin “Sin” Vaughn, the Earl of Sinclair, needs to marry an heiress, and he needs to marry one now. But the sudden, anonymous publication of salacious memoirs rumored to be his obliterates his chances. With polite society convinced he is a murderer, he has only one choice: Find the person behind his supposed memoirs and get his revenge.

Callie never expected Lord Sinclair to discover she wrote Confessions of a Sinful Earl...nor to abduct her and demand restitution in the form of her own hand in marriage. She definitely did not expect to find him so difficult to resist.

Sin is about to teach the beautiful, perfidious Lady Callie a lesson in ruthlessness one scorching-hot kiss at a time.

I could listen…

…to John Lane’s mellifluous narration day and night. Unfortunately, in this case, that included the content of his narration. I’m not saying the story, characters, and Olivia Thompson’s performance were complete shite. Just that…enough is enough. I’m all for a well-written sex scene, but less is more…quality over quantity. I won’t be continuing the series, even though I’d like to see Jo end up with Decker.

Didn’t enjoy duel narration

Not a fan when two people narrate. I don’t like the differing voices for each character. Olivia narrated Callie’s POV chapters and had a terrible “sin” voice. John narrated the Sin POV chapters and had a much better Callie voice than. But it would have been so much better to have one narrator with the actors playing the same speaking roles every time.

I would have liked the story more had I read with my eyes I think. But the narration was too frustrating to fully enjoy.

This dual narration was disappointing

The story was ok. Lane is excellent, but Thompson was a disappointment. She did not do Sin’s voice justice.

captivating

Good story although the female reader lacked good variety in range or depth in delivery.

Nice narration, sweet story

I enjoyed the narrators smooth voices, and I appreciated that there was a male/female narrators. The story did feel a bit juvenile. The sexual bits were somewhat sloppy feeling. The characters had potential but left me feeling a bit flat.
I did like the story but unlikely to read it again. (I’m sorry) I don’t like writing reviews that sound unfavorable

Not Enough Story

Too much sex. Very little story, and unbelievable. Dialogue does not feel like it fits the period. More character and plot development would be nice. I thought this was book 1 of a series, but felt like I missed the first book about the brother and his wife. Not my type of book. Performance was good.

Worth a listen

The female narrator made the hero sound like raspy, seething devil with laryngitis. The heroine was read beautifully, but all other character voices were grating. Totally pulled me out of the story, which, especially in the first quarter, relied on the characters having the same thoughts or saying the same things over and over again.

The male that narrator was more effective, and for me, having only one narrator would have been better in this case.

Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and the author did a good job of making me root for it the couple once they quit repeating their inner dialogue.

The author didn’t close out a couple of what I felt to be important elements like what happens with his mother.

I probably would have enjoyed this book more had I read it rather than listened to it due to the female narrator’s odd voice choices.

Spice yes!

Love Scarlett Scott. Familiar troupe, but different storyline, lead to great character development and plot moved at a steady pace.

Good story but explicit sex & bad female narrator.

Good story but explicit sex & bad female narrator. I liked it. because the plot was unique. The author did a good job with the relationship between the 2 MCs. I became invested almost immediately. It was fun to watch the back and forth between these two. I detested the FMC until I didn't -lol- but I never felt overly frustrated with her like I have with other novels. It was a good balance in dialog and inner thoughts. The couple talked to each other often rather than bottling it all up. THAT was refreshing in a romance novel!!

I have only two criticisms. First, this is definitely erotica and it is not listed as such in genre. However, I have to admit that the 1st couple of sex scenes were fairly tasteful, creative, and hot. The rest was blatant porn but the backstory was so good that I just skipped them. The important dialog resumed after not during anyway.

The second criticism is the female narrator. She is not horrible but her secondary voices for the male lead and her best friend are quite irritating. I would have preferred she just speak in her regular voice for all.
