Publisher's summary

A queen and her battle-scarred guard are on the run on an alien planet…with a relentless enemy hunting them.

Knightqueen Carys of Oron lives a life of duty to her people and planet. After the murder of her parents, she worked hard to become a fair and dedicated leader. She never expected to be abducted by the vicious Gek’Dragar and locked in a mountain prison, but having her head knightguard at her side makes it bearable. Older, scarred Sten is duty personified, the one man she’s always been able to trust. He’s also the only man she’s ever loved, not that she’s ever told him that.

Knightguard Thorsten Carahan has sworn to protect his knightqueen, and lives and breathes her safety. He works hard to keep his mind on his duty, and not on the too young, too beautiful, and too kind queen who is way out of his league. But now they’ve escaped their enemy’s prison and are on the run on a dangerous planet. When they learn that the Gek’Dragar have created a lethal weapon to use against the Oronis, Sten knows he must get Carys home. But with danger at every turn, lines get blurred.

With only each other to depend on, Carys and Sten’s bond of duty and respect tangles with forbidden desire and need. As passion flares, they can no longer deny their connection, and they will discover just how far they are willing to go for their people…and each other.

Well done!!

When Knightqueen Carys was abducted with her most loyal Knightguard Sten (Thorsten Carahan), he bound them together through a durabinding process that was unbreakable by anyone but Sten. Since the Gek’Dragar want to keep her alive for some reason unknown to them, he is still alive as well, although he has been tortured. They have been fighting wild animals and Gek’Dragar ever since their daring escape while their prison was attacked. Since their escape in the midst of the melee, they have rarely stopped running.

Along the way, Carys and Sten have become an even stronger team—united in their desire to escape from this brutal world and make the Gek’Dragar pay for the way they ruin other worlds. There are a few of their teammates nearby, ready and willing to help—if they could only find the knightqueen and her guard!

This story flows well and is hard to put down! There is a strong sense of tension and the pace is relentless. Carys and Sten both have a very strong will to survive and to make the Gek’Dragar pay, and that will is needed at times when they are in danger. This is the final installment in this series. Fortunately, it is also loosely connected to the prior two series’s written by this author. So there are lots of stories to go around and to feed your needs regarding this incredible universe that Anna Hackett has created! With its stellar ending, and amazing beginning, this story is loads of fun and filled with excitement!

The narration for the audiobook is expertly done. Stella Bloom and Aaron Shedlock do a wonderful job of animating these protagonists. They bring them to life with vivid portrayals of the perils they face and the struggles they each must accept to become all that they are meant to be. They are delightful to listen to and they give each character their own voice.

I was not disappointed

Carys and Sten finally show their feelings! I was anticipating this story since Book 1, and I wasn't disappointed. We learn their backgrounds and watch them fumble around before giving in to their love to gain forever. Carys is fierce not only for innocents, but when it comes to her man. A quick, fast-paced listen with action, danger, suspense and hopefully a set up for Anna's next sci-fi spin off series. Narrators were terrific as always, as I love her dual narrator picks.

Awesome Emding

I loved it although I hate that the series is over. I loved all the characters and the action. It was a slow road to happiness for the Knight Queen and her forever love because he was so stubborn and selfless.
